Continuing with the range from Lattafa, here we have the Pride line again. Another scent that I have from a 5x20ml set. I probably wouldn’t have bought 100ml of this Art of Wood blindly, as the "inspiration" Perseus didn’t fully convince me. Of course, you can't go wrong for around 20€ for 100ml, but there are many fragrances that interest me more. 20ml is a great size that I am satisfied with. Perseus is indeed a very solid scent that can work wonderfully in everyday life with its citrus freshness and the combination of vetiver and wood. However, the DNA is rather less something that stands out significantly from the crowd and brings tons of compliments. It doesn’t always have to be that way, but here you get a great alternative that has convinced me similarly to Perseus. I even find this Art of Wood better, as I find the base a bit rounder and more appealing. Overall, a fantastic release that smells significantly more luxurious than the price suggests.
The bottle is so-so, once again a bit trashy but that's a matter of taste. The packaging is, as always, difficult to dispose of if you can't keep it for space reasons. Otherwise, a great overall package, especially in this price range. What I particularly like about Art of Wood is this wonderful top note of grapefruit, bergamot, subtle sweetness, and also a slightly creamy note. The zesty grapefruit reminds me of Perseus or slightly of Roja's Elysium. There’s also some citrusy bergamot and a lightly peppery spice. Noble vetiver from the base sets in extremely early and is actually perceptible almost throughout the entire development. The vetiver brings a noble and serious note that smells mature and elegant and harmonizes beautifully with grapefruit and of course the wood. Due to the vanilla in this fragrance, Lattafa is sweeter and more appealing than the rather unsweet PdM. I really like it, as well as the wonderful woody notes that give this fragrance its name. Rose-patchouli is more in the background, as the grapefruit is very loud for a long time and then is replaced by the wood-vetiver. Overall, a completely rounded fragrance that will certainly fit various everyday occasions. Even though it’s unisex: This will appeal more to men, but can also suit women. The performance is really good. The grapefruit has power and the rest of the development still has a decent projection. Longevity? 8+ hours.
Overall, a great alternative that already smells quite elegant and serious. Anyone who is not averse to the trio of grapefruit-wood-vetiver can give this a chance, especially if you enjoy exploring the cheapie category.
