Heavily Spiced Cinnamon Cloud with Familiar (Dupe) DNA

Exciting. I have only had a sample of Layton so far, but I have owned quite a few fragrances that aimed to emulate it. In terms of quality, it is always something completely different, and this is no exception. I cannot compare it to "Centaurus | Creed," as it was lost in the mail when I tried to get it here. But one thing is certain: you know the opening of this fragrance very well if you have tested a few Layton dupes.

Still, I am not a fan of automatically assuming that every fragrance from the Arab world is a dupe. After the short, approximately five-minute opening, there is a bit more happening here. The spicy sweet sharpness fades and develops into a sometimes overly dense cinnamon cloud. This takes about half an hour before it dissipates and settles into quite a mix of warm spices and sweetness.

Overall, I think this is not bad, and I believe many can appreciate this fragrance, especially because of the opening. My biggest criticism lies more in the fact that it does not finely and well highlight any note other than cinnamon. Yes, you can smell spices. You can also smell something sweet that could be vanilla. But it is not finely balanced; it is a composition of neither here nor there.

Longevity: about ten hours, but from the sixth hour on, it is extremely close to the skin.

Sillage: it is loud for two hours, then it quickly becomes quite quiet.

Note to Lattafa: sometimes I wish you would invest as much bold thought and effort into the composition of the fragrance as you do into your bottles. Then the Pride collection might gain a completely different drive!

A fair analysis of "Taureau," but unfortunately, I couldn't find much fairness in it. It scared me right away.
By now, I also think that even a technically well-made Parfum de Marly wouldn't really convince me with its scent. It's just not my thing anymore, and a Lattafa Pride product seems to make it even worse.
The bottle is cute, but the cap actually seems better designed than the contents. What a shame for the bottle! 😅
