I wanted to love this, but I don't. I normally adore pear scents, and looking through the other notes I had hoped it would be a match made in heaven. I get a hit of the pear on the open, but it fades very quickly. On my skin, it smells like old lipstick. Opening up a musty makeup bag. Walking into an, albeit affluent, retirement home.
I compared it immediately to the long discontinued Maison Margiela 'Lipstick On', which I love, to see if I've just tired of lipstick scents. That fragrance still holds up to me, maybe due to the tonka or heliotrope? But to my nose, Retrospect on me does smell nostalgic, but more in a long-forgotten, time to declutter products that have gone off sort of way. I don't get the juiciness or cleanliness that other reviewers have enjoyed, unfortunately.
Not a safe blind buy in my opinion. Maybe it's my skin chemistry, maybe it's the powderiness/orris. But for me? It's a pass.
