Queen of the Night
I take care to avoid the aliens. They have abducted me several times and conducted all sorts of experiments on my sense of smell. Since then, I have been on guard against them. But now, one lured me in again. It smiled kindly and lulled me with its softness. It coaxed me to come along, promising there would also be a liqueur…
Its bright, gold-glimmering robe looked so trustworthy and did the rest, and before I knew it, I was back on a spaceship. It was indeed different from the others. On the strong purple one from before, the light was glaring, and I sensed right away that it wouldn’t be fun, and I have no good memories of the yellow one either. But here, the light was soft and muted. The interior was made of dark wood, and the comfortable sofas were adorned with numerous gold-threaded cushions. Very elegant, magnificent, and opulent.
Although this alien had promised me beforehand not to bring out the jasmine club, it didn’t quite keep that promise. Right upon entering, I saw the jasmine bouquet on the table and felt a slight panic, but it wasn’t as bad as with the others. The friendly alien even removed the flowers from the table, so soon only a delicate hint of jasmine lingered in the air. Then it served a bowl of delicious almonds, which were slightly caramelized and infused with a wonderful aroma. Alongside, there was a light, heavy gold-colored liqueur that was very tasty. Sweet and pleasantly intoxicating.
We chatted nicely, and my heart grew warmer. In the room, a warm, floral-sweet, woody-amber scent spread more and more, enveloping me and making me drift away. I don’t know what all was in this delicious drink, but I also suspect a splash of rum. Eventually, I floated away on cotton clouds and found myself in a dreamy golden dress at a lavish ball. I was the most beautiful and danced with a handsome man; the audience stood around us, watching us in admiration…
I don’t know how long I had drifted away, but it must have been many hours. Finally, the friendly alien tugged at my sleeve and said I had to go now. With deep regret, I did as I was told, but the alien promised I could come back anytime. And I will certainly be happy to accept that invitation soon; I know where it lives now!
