Magnificent, Absolutely Magnificent
I have been exploring Chypre fragrances lately and this one caught my attention. Boy am I glad it did.
I seem to get a really interesting combination of top notes such as a lemon-lime floral open that is a touch of positively good hint of sourness. I swear there is this banana peel note as well, which I assume is the ylang ylang according to the notes above. Also comes off a tiny bit "dirty" or slightly animalistic. The heart turns into a warm peppery incense scent which is just incredible. Further developing through the heart, leather starts creeping in and starts to intensify going to the dry down. Then at the base, it becomes an earthy, mossy, slightly woody with an amber glow. The longer it sits on my, the more the leather fight back to the front on the base. Just wonderful.
After trying this and absolutely loving it, which by the way is a bottle buy for me, I found out this is in part made by a UK Youtube fragrance reviewer. I'm not one for social media for fragrance reviews and avoid it altogether and rely on sites like Parfumo with folks who aren't monetizing on their opinions. However, after watching a few of his videos, his tastes align almost exactly like mine, so maybe it is no surprise that I absolutely love this scent so much. I immediately ordered samples for the rest of Naughton & Wilson's lineup.
But for Chypre Fulminare, I think it is an incredible fragrance and if you have any intentions of exploring Chypre scents, this needs to be on your short list.
