Between the Lotus Blossoms Lies Mandalay

Mandalay is meant to capture the original beauty of Myanmar, this is the starting point and drop of inspiration for this symphony of scents

It opens with the classic Nebiru Magic Drop, none of the fragrances from the Imperial Collection carries the unmistakable Nebiru flag as prominently as Mandalay!
The perfumer's signature is clear, yet the scent does NOT smell interchangeable.

The start is fresh, ethereal, aldehydic - immediately a certain cozy vintage flair. As it develops, the main players become more prominent: lotuses (blue from Thailand and pink from India)

*No, of course my nose is not capable of detecting which color the lotus had, here the look at the fragrance pyramid helps, which is, as usual, very complex and full of marvelous naturals*

Other flowers, such as jasmine, gardenia, and ylang-ylang join in the song of the former beauty of the land. This is underpinned by delicate woody oud, resins, slightly smoky nuances, and very subdued and agreeable animalics.

It seems the entire animal kingdom of the country has come to this serenade, but they know how to behave and do not stand out negatively

On my skin, I think, after about hour 4, of red tea and light incense

Beautiful scent, love at first sniff!
Last year, when I had the chance to test the freshly prepared working version, I was smitten, and I knew the scent had to move in!

Off to Mandalay. Out of the four new ones, I like the one with Gods of our Fathers the best.
