Uber masculine leather
Nevermind the bottle shaped like Count Dracula's coffin. Pancaldi has the fresh dark vibe that was so popular in the 80s after Guy Laroche changed the landscape of perfume with Drakkar Noir.
It opens fresh with face-smacking juniper berries and also bergamot, lemon verbena, and lavender. But you can smell an extremely heavy leather raging in the background. As the top notes dissipate, clove and cinnamon are clearly discernible. In the dry-down the leather, cinnamon, and cloves dominate all other notes.
Note that this is not an elegant, pleasant leather... this is harsh like the interior of a decked out 1960s Mercedes on a hot summer day with the windows rolled all the way up. The concentree version lasts an eternity on my skin, so if you're not into uber masculine leather, I recommend you stay away. On the other hand, if you'd like the leather of say Daniel Hechter Caractere to be even more butch, then Pancaldi is right up your alley.
Warning: 2-3 sprays maximum or the leather might make you nauseous.
FYI I have both concentree versions: Hanorah splash (no barcode) and Diana De Silva spray (with barcode) and they smell exactly the same.
Masculinity Level: The mafioso on the perfume box is spot on. It's like the perfumer asked himself, "What fragrance was Mr. Blonde from Reservoir Dogs wearing when he was torturing the cop for fun?" He was wearing Pancaldi. Hands down.
