The Perfection of Animalic Ouds

My first Pernoire, thanks to the Discovery Set I can finally test and enjoy the fragrances. What better way to start than with the one that is most talked about. While researching after ordering the set, I saw an Instagram ad where the good Jeremy talked about his first impression. I wasn't even aware that he had already showcased "Tierra | pernoire," but that's probably because I don't watch him.

Tierra is indeed the fragrance that wants to present the brand a bit. I have now tested all four fragrances, but this one is the most powerful. It's a very distinctive scent, as it has a bit of stable-like Oud in it, which makes it even more interesting in its overall DNA. A wonderful representative of the brand, even if I like another one just as much.

Since I am very experimental and do not shy away from demanding situations, I tested Tierra for the first time at a lovely 26 degrees. A fantastic experience, as I found out.

To start, there’s a full load of intense and quite authentic red fruits. But not just simple forest fruits, no, a dose of rum quickly mixed in, creating the impression of pickled berries. A fantastic note that sits beautifully on the skin and sends plenty of scent clouds into the surroundings. In my opinion, this beginning could last a bit longer, as after a short time the Oud announces itself in all its glory. Quite animalic, already stable-like, it sits on my skin, possibly supported by the other notes. The presence is very strong; no compromises are made here.

Only after about an hour does the fragrance develop further, with more vanilla aromas coming through, and the rum also plays a larger role again. Everything becomes softer, more sensual, and achieves a nice balance, so the initial impression of the Oud becomes a bit more balanced and definitely more wearable.
The longer time goes on, the more the vanilla takes control and sits very pleasantly on the sprayed spot. From the Oud, mainly a dark woody base remains in the nose. Overall, the chosen Oud variety is quite woody. Throughout the development, there is no real smokiness, possibly influenced by the other two components.

The animalic aspect is also not as intense as I have experienced with other fragrances. It hits exactly the peak where the stable component does not become too excessive, does not seem annoying or burdensome. But it is also not too soft to make the fragrance seem boring. Just the right point to keep sniffing at the sprayed spot because the scent is simply interesting. In the end, it even has a somewhat chocolatey effect.

The performance is also really strong. I sprayed the fragrance, wore it for six hours, showered, and still noticed it on my arm afterwards. So ten hours are definitely possible here, which my second test also confirmed. After six hours, it does become a bit closer to the skin, but still perceptible enough to enjoy. The sillage is also quite strong at the beginning. For the first two hours, it fills the immediate vicinity, which can certainly be a statement due to the oud-like beginning.

Overall, a really strong fragrance. A fruity start that could last longer, a initially challenging Oud component, and a sensual finish. A great piece that I would love to add to my collection.
