Old Barn Converted to Bakery
I'm not typically a fan of a hay note or gourmands in general, but wow, I absolutely love Hayloft!
Something in the first minute or so reminds me of coconut, then I get a medley of sweet hay, nuts, and grasses. I have a friend whose parents live on a farm, and they have a little barn down by the road where they sell preserves and baked goods. This is exactly like the back rooms of that barn. It smells distinctly of bales of hay and dusty rafters littered with straw, mixed with the sweet aroma of something baking in the kiln.
Over the next few hours, the focus shifts to vanilla and honey. I'm shocked there's no vanilla listed in the notes because it's so prominent to my nose (maybe it's the oat note?). Overall, it's rich and spicy, sweet but not cloying. The drydown reminds me of oatmeal cookies. I love how much this evolves from start to finish - I almost wouldn't recognize it as the same scent after 5 minutes versus 2 hours. Also, although this does smell like a barn, I don't get any animalic notes at any point.
This is such a cool and unique scent, but it's also super wearable (especially once gourmand notes start to dominate over the grasses). Leans feminine, and feels mostly like a Fall scent to me. One of my favourites from Pineward!
