one should perhaps consider something...
...before tearing apart a perfume: everyone has a different skin type, fragrances come out differently. what smells good on one person may stink on another. thankfully, I notice nothing intrusive from orange blossom, as I generally do not like orange blossom at all. I find the perfume very strong, more of a winter scent. I like the base note, with patchouli and cedar clearly noticeable. for me, it’s a successful fragrance, but should be used sparingly, as it is long-lasting and heavy.

Memories of Lübeck
Whenever I stroll through the department store, I reach for a spray of Debut.

I feel drawn to the scent - and since yesterday, I know why.

A tasty marzipan note reaches me, which the pyramid does not quite reveal.
I discover neither almond nor apricot kernel there.
Nevertheless, my nose registers good soft Niederegger marzipan, bringing to mind welcome images from the exquisite shop in beautiful Lübeck.

In my thoughts, I wander through the picturesque alleys to the charming harbor.
My walk is accompanied by aromatic apples and fresh grapefruit.
The mandarin conveys an aquatic closeness to the sea, and the wood note reminds me of the old round warehouses.
The vanilla leads me back to my favorite shop, where I select something special from the original marzipan figures.

Not only the thoughts, but also the scent perceptions are free.
Debut is allowed to move in with me.

Delicate Orange Blossom, beautiful, but no major development (for me!)
Experienced parfumistas (parfumistos? what is it called?) might be shaking their heads that I am grouping these fragrances together, but it is what it is....I can only report what my crazy (?) nose perceives.
My dear husband was in a perfumery today and asked for samples for me. He received three small decants in these mini tubes, neatly attached to cards, clearly labeled. I haven't seen something like that in ages; I haven't asked for decants at Douglas or similar places for years, as they always said there was a new regulation that prohibited decanting. Oh really? Not anymore? Anyway, I am happy about the decants of "Voyage" by Hermès, "Eau Exquisit" by Bvlgari, and "Début" by Etienne Aigner.
Since I couldn't decide which one to test first, I simply took "Début" by name, the beginning....
My husband asked in the perfumery for green/Chypre/woody and please not too sweet....uhm, yes.....the first thing that comes to mind is: the scent is neither woody nor green nor a Chypre. However, this fragrance was probably nicely arranged and displayed in the perfumery and is thus likely a new scent that is supposed to be promoted. (?) Well, okay, why not?
Regarding my "Sweet-not-so-wanted": I perceive the scent as sweetish right from the start...but not sticky sweet, rather floral-light, completely fine for me.
Then: delicate-light-floral...but which flowers? I am once again annoyed that I can recognize and classify so few fragrance notes.
Fruity: It smells like mandarin or sweet orange, nice...but not outstanding, rather embedded in little flowers (?), so delicate.
That is all I have perceived during the first hour up to now, but the most astonishing (?) thing is, "Début" constantly reminds me of "Iris Nobile," which I was able to test about two years ago thanks to a lovely parfumista. And I keep thinking: Am I going crazy? Isn't that too long ago? Am I mixing something up? But I can't get this connection out of my head, and "Iris Nobile" is a scent that is always stored in my back room as very beautiful and "I would like to have it," so present. Only, what is it that is the same in both? It is not the iris, although the most prominent feature of "Iris Nobile" should be the iris, right? Why haven't I stored this flower as the main memory of the scent? And I like and love iris, especially how it comes across in "Chanel N°19." With "Début," I certainly do not perceive any iris. If it is there: Sorry, iris!
The longer I sniff, the more this delicate-mandarin scent transitions into something floral or rather unites with something floral. I believe it is orange blossom. There is still quite a bit besides the orange blossom that I cannot classify once again, *sniff*. But I am sure I can perceive orange blossom. Is it what I could also detect in "Iris Nobile"? And should the scent from Aqua di Parma be called "Neroli Nobile" for me? (Neroli is orange blossom, right?) In both scents, the orange blossom is beautifully framed by something else; I have often smelled pure orange blossom, which I like very much, but here there is something else...too bad I can't name it (yet).
5 hours after application: I still perceive almost exclusively orange blossom. In between, after about 2-3 hours, it could have been a bit of jasmine....thankfully not stinky. But overall, no major development for me. Consistently beautiful-pretty....
Preliminary conclusion: Smells beautiful and delicate, mainly to me like orange blossom, initially sweetish with mandarin, later more floral, very lightly with jasmine (hint!). Beautiful scent, but for me, not a must-have.
Note to self: Definitely compare directly with Iris Nobile from Aqua di Parma sometime!

This one is teaching me that orange blossoms aren't as bad as I thought.

It strongly reminds me of Elie Saab le parfum. Floral and fresh, lasts really well.

Starts completely fruitless for me. Very mature floral scent, almost not sweet and a bit bitter. The opposite of cute!

Why did I have to test it?? Fruit + patchouli, loud, aggressive, and unfortunately long-lasting. Phew...

Delightfully pleasant fruity-floral scent with a subtle sweetness. Beautifully light. Its popularity can still grow. Give it a try!
