A Fruitier Good Girl
I personally find Carolina Herrera’s Good Girl to be a bit too dense. I’ve opted for the lighter and fruitier flankers, namely Suprême, Very Good Girl, and Légerè; I recognize Very Good Girl doesn’t at all fit the original white floral profile of Good Girl or it’s two original flankers. While I was initially skeptical of any Good Girl dupe, worrying the combo of heavy white florals and strong base notes would be just as overwhelming to my nose, I found Sand + Fog Pear Blossom to be a pleasant relief.
I feel Pear Blossom lands somewhere between the coziness intended in the original Good Girl and the lighter, “zesty” vibe of Légerè. The pear note stands out rather than being absorbed into the white florals, and the base notes, while warm and sweet, are not nearly as pungent as Good Girl’s coffee-tonka bean-cocoa-patchouli-etc. punch to the sinuses. If anything, I liken the scent to warm pears with a drizzle of caramel; the scent inherently feels made for chilly weather when comfort and indulgence is desired, without going overboard. Good Girl *demands* to be noticed, and requires a confident wearer, whereas Pear Blossom remains bright, comforting, and much more subtle in its self-assurance.
And seeing as the Légerè flanker has been discontinued and can now only be found, in dwindling supply, at discount retailers and third-party sellers, I find this to be an adequate substitute. I can safely recommend this oil to fans of pear fragrances and gentle white florals.
