Rainy day with sunshine
Family vacation at the Baltic Sea. It rains non-stop. So we drive to Wismar, see the town and decimate the Baltic Sea's smoked animal population in the harbor. I force myself 15 minutes of child-free time and enter the Schuback perfumery. First glance, only designers. Boring. Bargain table, nothing either. On leaving, I discover a table with a Mol Escense tester and spray myself wildly without hesitation.
First thought: fresh and woody, a bit like M1, but more floral. I don't get to the second thought, the saleswoman starts chattering at me in staccato. I flee. In the meantime, the family circle has set up its court in an ice cream parlor and I almost fall off my chair while sniffing and checking the net at the same time. What? Made by Micallef for Schuback?
The fragrance becomes more peppery and woody, stays at around 40 cm in the projection and takes on a creamy quality. Then my wife says appreciative words about the fragrance, a rare event! I have to go back. I want to know how much it costs. In the store I see: 120€ for 100ml of eau de parfum. For a Micallef? Bought it.
8 hours later, I am still more than satisfied. The scent is still clearly perceptible, now more ambery. Overall, I would say it is rather linear, at least the basic character. Sometimes the floral is in the foreground, then again something peppery and sometimes even almost citrusy. Absolutely unobtrusive, rather bright and with a friendly atmosphere. Iso E 10 Super is definitely in the mix, but other facets are clearly perceptible. Molecular fragrance? Depends on how you define it. I would say: no. Too multi-layered. But that can also be seen as a compliment. It's perfect for layering, as many directions remain open here.
The bottle is flawless, sprays like a 1 and the cap even lets you work out your biceps, which is helpful as I tend to find the fragrance rather masculine, but it definitely passes as unisex.
A sunshine bargain from rainy Wismar!
