A Purple Daydream with a Touch of Acidity - Vanilla Orchid Sandalwood to Fall in Love With
Some fragrances just touch you directly - and the 509 was exactly one of those for me. I applied it and had to sniff again right away because I couldn't believe how beautiful it is. Warm, sweet, but not sticky. And then this slight acidity… I find that really lovely!
The first thing that strikes me are the candied violets, they are particularly special here: They smell almost edible - like a little violet candy. Sweet, but not too much - there’s this slightly sour note in there, like with really good red fruits or lightly sugared flowers. And that’s exactly what makes the fragrance so special for me: It’s not just lovely, but it has depth.
The vanilla then slowly joins in, a very soft, warm, almost powdery vanilla.
The sandalwood is calm, creamy, slightly woody - almost velvety. Not a bit dry or masculine - but round, warm, and very close to the skin. I believe that’s what makes the fragrance so long-lasting. I can still smell it hours later on my skin, and it holds really well on clothing too - even until the next day.
None of those fragrances where you think after two hours “Okay, thanks, that’s enough now.” It develops slowly, becomes softer and softer, but never boring. I even had the feeling at one point that it almost smelled a bit like fresh skin and sunscreen at the end - but in a very elegant way.
I think what excites me so much is the combination of this violet-vanilla-sandalwood blend and the little hint of freshness that resonates. It makes it lightly playful.
