Equal in Quality

I stumbled upon DUA Fragrances while looking for an alternative to VIW. Just like surely 99% of all other perfume enthusiasts, because otherwise, one would probably not come across such an (still) unknown company. Behind DUA Fragrances is the Master Perfumer as well as CEO & Owner, Mahsam Raza. Mr. Raza produces and creates his own fragrances (Original Blend) from high-quality extracts by hand, as well as fragrances available on the market according to common guidelines (Inspired Expression). Among the latter is now also "Caribbean Waters" (CW). DUA does not hide its relationship to VIW, quote: "If you love Creed Virgin Island Water, you may also love Caribbean Waters!"
Well, fundamentally, I am always skeptical about such creations. However, this time my skepticism was unfounded. As can already be read in the statements, the similarity is striking. In a blind test, one would certainly not notice any difference. Sprayed on the skin, CW unfolds a bit fruitier for me than VIW, which, in contrast, seems a bit spicier at the beginning. Both fragrances essentially develop in the same way: green-citrus notes, coconut, and rum shake hands and conjure the Caribbean flair into the nose. Now, there are always various quality fluctuations with VIW depending on the batch; I cannot say to what extent this also applies to CW, as one would have to acquire this fragrance repeatedly over a longer period. In terms of sillage and longevity, CW (compared to VIW from my batch) seems to be a nose ahead for my perception. I cautiously estimate 6-8 hours (significantly longer on clothing), with half an arm's length of sillage, while the Caribbean scent blend simply fades slowly without further development. In my opinion, VIW does not have a significant scent development either. The mentioned marginal differentiations compared to VIW will certainly vary from batch to batch. Thus, I also agree with the above quote. Those who like VIW will certainly get along very well with CW. Price-wise, CW is a bit cheaper.
In conclusion, DUA Fragrances offers a real alternative with "Caribbean Waters" that is worth testing.
