Some of you know that for me, Midsummer Dream is my absolute "Holy Grail." From the very first spray, I was enchanted by this beautiful Roja. Many times my finger hovered over the order button, but price, exchange rates with the British pound, import duties, and also (timely) reason have ensured that a dream remains a dream. Since then, I believe that good or even beautiful fragrances must also exist in a price range of €200-250; I am no longer willing to spend more on this madness.
My dilemma: Buying dupes is also somewhat annoying; I'm more for the original... no matter what it's about. So far, it has always bothered me a bit, especially with the Aventus dupes, with the exception of Nero. And yes, I admit it, dupes on the shelf somehow lack shine, lack soul.
However, I made a big exception for Enchantment; I just wanted to know how well they managed it. It was an endless 2 weeks from the USA until the package finally arrived.
At first, I didn't even want to spray the fragrance, out of "fear" that they might have done it too well, which would have scratched my holy grail a bit. After the first 5-10 seconds, I thought, "haaah... guess you didn't succeed with your duping" ... I hadn't thought about my €60 loss at that point. Herbal and strict, yes, also a bit sharp-stinging were the first moments, but after 1-2 minutes, the Midsummer Dream beauty emerged. Incredible... I thought... how do they manage to do it so well?!? Citrusy nuances blend with light wood and deep green pine needles, a fragrance carpet that I could hardly describe even in the original. Maybe it's just my imagination or my original ego is misleading me here, but with Roja, they were a touch more ethereal and refined. At six times the price, they probably should be;-). A scent-defining "asphalt-after-a-storm accord" wraps around the green-herbaceous and slightly woody notes, which has a somewhat mineral-stony quality, as is the case with Terre... great! The floral streaks also pass by every now and then, yet the fragrance has a masculine base character. Thus, the scent lingers hour after hour, becoming softer and creamier. 8 hours were easily achievable.
So now it stands on my shelf; I should be happy... I am somewhat... and yet a little melancholy remains because it is not Midsummer Dream. To all those who couldn't care less about these sentimentalities, who perhaps don't even know the original, I highly recommend a test, because regardless of whether it resembles or even matches the original, it is a great fragrance, a perfect fragrance... does it perhaps lack a bit of charm for that reason? Maybe I'm just being foolish...
Just saw this!! You did it - you bought it!!! And then sold it right away!!! Hahaha!!! The Parfumo with the best taste and the highest turnover! The one I ordered from Dua never arrived, so I just ordered it again. Hopefully it comes this time - otherwise I'll end up paying as much for it as for the Roja! PS: You're definitely going to buy the original sooner or later - bet? :-))
Nice that it works for you. Unfortunately, really unfortunately, I like the original 1-2 shades better. Someday, when I've won the lottery, I'll get it.
Honestly, I think this one is really good, and the quality is great for the price. In my opinion, Dua and Alexandria are the best dupe brands out there right now. Of course, the original is worth it, but the price is just too high. That's why I'm getting this one and looking forward to it :-) Best, Beni
Yes, that's how it is with the Duas; the start is always different than expected... Often they are more bitter and, as I would say about some, less creamy and refined... But the rest is 80-90% identical, and the longevity is great too. I can also understand the sadness when you think of your favorite original. That's why the original creations from Dua are highly recommended!
I've already seen that it's in your collection and is considered a dupe for Midsummer Dream. Not bad - and Dua offers decent quality, as I've noticed several times before.
I kind of get you. But with something like Eoja, I have to pass too. Better nothing than something that’s similar, even if it’s good. I could only accept it as a similar but still different scent-maybe?
Point.
Thank you, from the few inexperienced, eager to learn, and curious perfume lovers.
Please keep it up. :-))
