Into the Forest
First off, I'd like to say that the scent of Próba Traw (Trial of the grasses) is very accurate to the marketing. It indeed smells very green, earthy, and dark. The bottle design depicts it very well.
It immediately starts out very dark and leathery, bluegrass and cypriol building upon these aspects. For most of the wear time, it lingers around as a smoky and earthy scent, like dry forest soil. After a few hours, there's a very subtle, urinous edge to it. It's actually not that unpleasant, as it adds a warm undertone to the composition. Overall, the scent is incredibly masculine. I like to imagine an old hunter with a cabin in the woods wearing this. '
The performance is just great, easily lasting 8+ hours and still being noticeable. It has grown on me a lot; at first I thought it would only be wearable by older people, but I've since changed my mind. Generally, an immensely impressive project from an indie perfumer such as Alan Balewski.
