The Nose Behind has been a term I’ve known since the beginning of my fragrance journey. However, I never got around to testing any of the scents. A blind buy felt too "risky" due to the quite controversial reviews of these fragrances. By now, I think many of these negative reviews stem from the sometimes high expectations (e.g. Miami South Beach would be the evolution of Naxos). Generally, I can’t say which expectations are met and which are not with the other scents from TNB, but I know that too many "expectations" and "promises" beforehand can cloud the first impression of a fragrance. When I then saw on the homepage that there was a new scent called Marrakech, my interest in the brand was immediately rekindled. The fragrance pyramid ultimately convinced me to simply buy it for Black Friday. The nice thing here is that there was no big promotion for the scent this time.
The scent starts off quite fresh for me. What hits the nose immediately is the mint paired with the lovely orange, with the mint being very dominant. Relatively quickly, the spicy notes and cinnamon set in. I can’t quite identify which spices they are, but it doesn’t really matter as it’s simply a pleasant spicy note that is beautifully accompanied by the cinnamon. Over time, the orange-mint combination recedes to the background and remains just a faint companion until the drydown. In the drydown, vanilla comes to the forefront along with tonka bean, but not overwhelming, rather soft and calm. By the end, you have a lovely vanilla-tonka-spice blend that occasionally lets you catch a hint of the beautiful top notes. For me, it’s a very interesting scent that I haven’t encountered before. Regarding performance, I can’t say much since 1. I have skin that is difficult for fragrances and 2. I believe that scents mature over time. A review on that will follow in the future.
In conclusion, I want to say that I find the scent very good in terms of its DNA and quality, especially for the price. It’s also great for niche beginners as it is niche enough to stand out from designer fragrances but still remains appealing. All in all, I am very satisfied and will definitely test more scents from this house.
That's exactly how I feel about this brand and the reviews. But with all the online personalities raving about it, it can't be that bad. The price is great, and not every scent has to fill the room.
So far, this is actually the best and most honest review I've read on Parfumo. Hats off! 🙌
