Finnish summer in bottle

This truely reminds me of finnish summer. its nice sunny day and you are at the cottage. you have made bath whisk out of fresh birch brances, you put it on water before you go to sauna. rhubarbs growing next to the cottage. its small and red. you go to the sauna and throw water on the heater and flail the bath whisk on your back. leafs stick to it and you feel the moist air and beautiful scent of birch yet somehow you still get that rhubarb scent in the sauna.

Finnish tradition made into a scent: nature, garden, sea and sauna

Skinny Dip (Top): birch leaf, vegetal accord, black currant, mineral accord and rhubarb.
Sauna Session (Base): warm woods, musk, smoke, leather and steam

Sometimes the descriptions of fragrances by the houses themselves are not entirely realistic and the impression they give is wrong. That is not the case with this fragrance.

“Running naked through newly cut grass, surrounded by silver birch trees. Jumping into the cold, black lake without a moment’s hesitation. A delicious shock of the freezing water. Goosebumps all over. Rushing back into the steaming heat of the sauna. Fire and smoke. Fresh birch leaves sizzle on the hot stones. The scent of warm skin. Oh, the nostalgia!” (From the brands website)

I am Finnish and spent my childhood living in the countryside, by the sea, in Finland, and that is exactly the image that comes to mind when I smell it, although a lake is a sea to me. I can smell large leaves on birch trees and birch branches in the sauna bring a soothing aroma as the liquid evaporates from them. Blackcurrant bushes and rhubarb grew in my grandparents' garden and were eaten straight from the bush. Those aromas here are very realistic and delicious. As the scent develops, it transforms into the atmosphere of a wood-burning sauna: gentle steam and smoke from burning wood, salty skin after swimming. The scent is unique and intense, but at the same time surprisingly easy and beautiful. The smoke is something that is not familiar from any previous scent, although I love that note. The whole composition is special and makes you want to smell your wrist again and again. The scent is addictive and I would say sensual in its own way.

I recommend Thousand Lakes to anyone who has memories of this all, and if you don't, you can use this splendid scent to try to sense a piece of beautiful Finnish tradition.

Thousand Lakes - the name says it all

The name truly says it all here. Thousand Lakes brings to mind the Eibsee in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for me in the morning. I stand before the crystal-clear lake, mist swirling above it, dense forests surrounding me. The air is fresh, nature is awakening. And this feeling is captured so strikingly real by Thousand Lakes for me.

An aquatic green scent of moss, woods, and rhubarb. On top of that, there’s soft leather and a hint of smoke. The composition makes it so exciting and also so special. The scent progression is calm, yet always very present and complex. For me, it’s an incredibly wonderful rugged fragrance that accompanies me throughout the day.

Thousand Lakes pleasantly sets itself apart from the mainstream. I have rarely been able to associate a name with a fragrance so strongly. Anyone looking for a scent that captures the magic of nature and feels so relaxing should definitely test "Thousand Lakes | V/siteur."

A Bon Iver Song Made Scentable.

Thousand Lakes is the desire for sheer wilderness, rugged nature, and untouched paths. I had high expectations for this fragrance, and V/siteur has fulfilled them 100%!

Thousand Lakes is like a liquefied Bon Iver song, full of meaningful lyrics and melodies that make you want to pack your backpack and just run away. Earthy, green, leathery, slightly smoky and animalic, even a bit resinous with some mineral notes here and there - Thousand Lakes brings it all together! Not just the "easily enjoyable" notes, and that’s what I love so much about it - definitely not something to please, rather something to indulge in melancholy.
