The smell of Parkinson's

The smell of Parkinson's

By Abner Cologne

Greetings.

My name is Abner Cologne I live in Tampa Florida and I am the CEO of the newly formed perfume company called Abner cologne's perfumes inc. My partner is Michael Florio. Michael and I are both perfumers and expert nose. My company was created on the month of May the year 2013 so in essence we've only been in business for less than three months but in that short period of time I have created five perfumes and bought the trademark name for "Abner cologne's perfumes" and trademarked all of our perfume names, not only that but we have Incorporated ourselves in the state of Florida.

Before we created our perfume company Michael and myself intended to create an animation/TV company trying to create animations and TV shows. We spent a great deal of time and money in this endeavor, we went to all of the top TV executive trade conventions. We started this television endeavor in the year 2011 and were not successful in doing so.

Very discourage Michael and I spoke about creating a perfume company he thought I was crazy but nonetheless I went on the Internet and taught myself the art of perfumery. (Michael and I saw a movie called "perfume" starring Dustin Hoffman. That inspired and introduced me on to the perfume industry)

Within a short relative time (one week) I taught myself the art of perfumery and purchased more than $2000 worth of essential perfume oils among other things and went on ahead to turn our computer graphics editing room into an out right perfume laboratory.

I wanted to create a perfume that smells like money, in other words the smell of a brand-new printed one dollar bill. But, in doing so I decided to Google to see if anyone had the trademark rights to the name "money" and lo and behold someone already snatched that name.

Discouraged that someone had a perfume called money, I imagined that this perfume had the smell of money I then decided to add more essential oils to the money perfume odor that I recently created and in doing so, I created a very delightful odor. Since everyone who smelled this perfume loved it, men and women alike, I decided to market this as a unisex perfume.

Since I create TV shows I decide to make my own TV commercial so I hired five models and created a TV commercial. (My TV commercial is airing on several cable access networks.)

In the process of creating my TV commercial I asked my models what they thought of my perfume, they told me that they've never smelled anything like it and loved it very much. I thought they were just being nice to me because I was paying them $100 a day to participate in my TV commercial.

We had to go to Hyde Park to film the last portion of the TV commercial and the majority of the models lived in the area that is adjacent to Hyde Park, so, I paid them after we shot the last scene and ventured off to my house to edit my commercial. Upon arriving there I noticed that all of my models followed me to my residence.

I inquired why they followed me to my house and why they did not go to their particular homes, in reply each of the models told me that they wanted a sample of my perfume to take with them, it was a very serendipitous moment for me.

We spent at least 45 min. discussing the perfume and I was very happy to see that they really did like the perfume even though I had paid them, I thought to myself they could've left long ago but no! They really came back for the perfume not me or my money.

A week after shooting the commercial I went to one of my refrigerators that I have in my perfume laboratory and took out the 3 gallon container of my unisex perfume to shake it up. (One of the rules when creating a perfume is to refrigerate the perfume oils so that the molecules will collide and combine into one, to create a totally different perfume in time) I shook the container of perfume oils and placed it on the table and walked out.

I was distracted and forgot all about the perfume and left town for about 3 to 4 days upon returning home I noticed that the interior of my residence smelled like honey. As I went about my business I was perplexed to where this honey odor was coming from, my mouth was salivating for the taste of honey.

Upon entering my perfume laboratory I notice the container of my unisex perfume was not placed in the refrigerator. Immediately I said to myself, "no way! There is no way!" I immediately opened the container and gave it a good smell and yes! It smelled like pure honey! By accident I created the smell of honey from natural essential perfume oils.

Every perfumer knows that one cannot extract the smell of honey from natural honey or bees wax. But nonetheless I have created the smell of honey without using synthetic chemical's.

Why is my story different from any other person in the perfume industry? Well one may think that it is because I have created the worlds first natural honey perfume made from real essential perfume oils and not from synthetic chemicals, or that I have been relatively successful in creating a perfume company in less than three months but, that's not the reason why, the reason is because of my partner Michael Florio's current situation.

Michael Florio was once a very successful guitar player in the Tampa Bay Area. Michael had a dual call "

Florio & Ginsberg' (flute, guitar and voice ) have been performing beautiful music for the past almost 20 years in the central Florida area. Together they have given over 2,000 presentations. They have both been on several local TV shows and in several local Tampa Bay newspapers and magazines. They have blended into a beautifully orchestrated duo and the music comes straight from their souls. Through their artistry, dedication, and professionalism, their music is uplifting, inspiring, and enriching - everything a great concert is meant to be.

Why is Michael Florio so significant? This is the reason why, Michael has a very rare form of Parkinson's, in most cases Parkinson's disease would make a person's body twitch and tremble beyond their control, but instead of his body twitching and trembling, Michael's form of Parkinson's does just the opposite, his form of Parkinson's makes his body stiff and rigid where he loses his balance and falls on a continually daily basis. He is riddled with bruises and cuts and scrapes. He is 6 feet tall and as they say "the taller you are the harder you fall" well in Michael's case that is very sad but true.

Michael Florio once sang like an angel, but as his Parkinson's disease continuously gets worse month after month he has slowly but surely lost his ability to sing and to play his guitar. I would only imagine the deep pain that he is going through on a daily basis in losing his God-given ability to sing and play the guitar, let alone function as a normal person. I don't think I would be able to endure the pain that Michael has. Michael Florio earned a Masters degree in music in the University of Miami.

Soon after Michael met Vera Ginsberg a flutist, they began a magnificent musical duo but unfortunately Michael was cut short of a marvelous career that he had playing in front of celebrities, Kings, (visiting the Tampa Bay) dignitaries, formal events and weddings, in the Tampa Bay area. Sadly, Vera Ginsberg has had no choice but to move on in re-create herself with other musicians to earn a source of income, but Michael has not been so fortunate as you can see.

As for me I have been blessed in meeting him and becoming his best friend. Michael has helped me by saving my marriage in gave me and my wife a home to live in and in return we paid back his kindness by kindly taking care of him on a daily basis.

Why am I doing this? Will the answer is simple, there is an operation that could possibly cure is very rare form of Parkinson's disease. Michael is a candidate for a very expensive brain operation that could possibly cure his Parkinson's disease and perhaps Michael's success in the perfume industry would enable him to achieve this operation and perhaps he can be his old self again.

In spite of Michael's degenerative Parkinson's disease continues to consume his body in making him more stiff and rigid as the day goes by , Michael is able to always smile and uplift my spirit. Trust me it brings a lump to my throat every time I think of him (my second best friend and my wife being my first best friend) knowing that one day his body will get so stiff that his organs may stop functioning.

Unlike other diseases Michael has an option that is a simple operation to his brain but who knows if this could ever be achieved. Perhaps success in the perfume industry can bring him enough monies so that he can get operated and once more be able to function like a normal person and perhaps one day he could sing and dance like the old Michael he used to be.

One thing is for sure, Michael has learned a deeper sense of empathy (not saying he never did have empathy to begin with) because of his current situation and perhaps if Michael's life changes for the better he can once more bring joy into other people's life by playing beautiful music for everyone, let alone his own life. If not maybe he could make people's life smell more sweeter one person at a time.
