How to recognize Yves Saint Laurent perfumes: a short, practical guide.

My friends,

So many people get confused about YSL labels and bottles, so I wrote this short "field guide" to recognize Yves Saint Laurent fragrances.

Have a good reading!

------------------------------------------------------------

ABSTRACT

Question: "From which year is this Yves Saint Laurent fragrance? "

Answer: You should look at the labels, stickers, symbols, and code numbers.

So what's the matter?

The problem is that looks like to be many different labels, numbers, and symbols..

To recognize Yves Saint Laurent perfumes, it is necessary to know the history of the House.

In fact, boxes, labels, symbols, reflect the different historical periods.

So, let’s go and see the most important clues that you can find; remembering, as always, that is not important to know if that bottle was produced exactly in March 1989 or in June 1990, because it’s more important the period in which it was produced.

During the narration, some important “warnings” will be reported, too.

(One important caveat: it is possible that during the transition from one period to another, there was a sort of mixing with bottles and labels, "old and new" together: in these cases is extremely difficult to accurately recognize the production time.)

The perfumes produced by “Yves Saint Laurent” are divided into five periods:

1 - The Beginning ("Charles of the Ritz Era"), from 1963 to 1985.

2 – American Years. ("Parfums Corp. Era"), from 1986 to 1992.

3 - French Years ("SANOFI Era"), from 1993 to 1999.

4 - The Gucci Era, 1999-2007.

5 - L'Oreal, from 2008-present.
