Detailed
from the Tiziana Terenzi website:
"The most bohemian stop on this unforgettable journey is the mythical Paris during a rainy autumn day, but warm with winding watercolours, blended as in painting by Renoir.
The smell of the rain beating on the slate roof mixes with the stone streets lit by dim lights.
A small fire at a crossroads of Montmartre heats musicians and acrobats that await tourists after the rain.
The magical atmosphere is seeped with precious and rare scents that echo the mysterious art of a timeless place.
One of the most complex and structured perfumes of the collection, where all the pleasing non-conformist notes are enclosed.
A creation without compromise, just like the bohemians, heedless of the thoughts of others and with a strong personality.
A creation that can be worn and mostly understood, only by those who really have a spirit free from all conditioning, from every stylistic conformity. Its uniqueness is perceived from the outset, with an unusual explosion of camphor that stuns like a glass of absinthe drunk in a moment, a strong counterpoint to the swell of laudanum and cognac, grafted onto the strength of precious woods, led to the absolute by unobtainable resins, reflected in turn in the smell of slate and laurel, all emphasised by the fire of the wet road.
A solid black bottle like a stone building that captures the essence of artistic madness and not confined by any style prejudice."

Phantasm
Disclaimer: this is my opinion, based on my personal experience, and on my maybe broken sense of smell, and you may not agree with it. So:
If you want coffee - try Coffee Addict or Little Song.
If you want chocolate - try Wicked Good.
If you want rum - try Side Effect or Bvlgari Man In Black.
You cannot find much of these notes in a recently produced Black Phantoms. (even though chocolate is not even a note in the composition)
Maybe your older batches / pre-reformulation bottles are juggernaughts, but nowadays, you can only get a bottle that gives you a faint soft smell in the dry-down, reminiscent of sweet sandalwood, maybe. I've tried several bottles, in 3 diff. shops + my own bottle.
It's not masculine, not even a fragrance, just a soft, pleasant smell of something.
I also think that Mr. Kilian Hennessy never smelled the sweet, full-bodied dark rums of Cuba and surrounding islands, only maybe French or other sour, unpleasant, tangy rums. At least, his cognacs are much sweeter than his rums. Which is a shame. This could have been a top top scent.
And the price is like 5x more than it is worth in my book.

for Gentleman Bad Boys
This is a more refined, tailored or gentrified version of the original Black EDP.
Less biker bad-boy feel to it. More like a black Bentley, with clean hair and ladies around.
You can wear this with a suit with great effect - just like Lorenzo Viotti in the advertisment.
Be warned, this projects not, it prefers to sit close to the skin, to linger, and occasionally send out wafts of its dark quality scent.
Personally, I love this, except the dry-down which can be rather generic (tonka-ish).
And it has to be said, the opening is rather lightweight because of the cinnamon heavy overture.
However, do not listen to crybaby-boys. It lasts, a LONG time.
I have it since it came out, 1,5 months, maybe. 36 hours ago, I sprayed this on my wrist, then, after 2 showers, this morning I sprayed Laudano Nero on the same wrist. Again, 12 hours later, in the shower, Laudano Nero was washed down and there came Black Parfum back from under it and radiated in the bathroom again - for a short time, though.
It comes alive when wet.
On clothes, it stays 3-4 days, easily.
Make your bets, gentlemen.

a good alternative
I don’t know who started the rumour that Millesime Imperial has a melon note in it. It really does not.
Not even listed on the official Greed website.
Anyway. This Extreme version seems to contain some melon juice. I really do get some wet, yummie fruity notes. Blackcurrant-ish something too. Especially in the opening. Along with the citruses. They are pretty obvious. Might be called sweet-fresh.
Later the Iris becomes stronger and the frag becomes a soothing, relaxing sensation. Freshness mostly gone. Some saltiness arrives too. This part lasts for at least 10 hours.
Never got to the pure dry-down so far. I needed to have a shower before that.
It is not the exact Millesime Imperial (from 10 years ago). But since Greed produces highly different batches - this one Easily could be an official release.
The only thing I really miss from this, is the high-quality musc used by Greed. I think the original version is lost forever. Sad.
So, I am somewhat satisfied with the purchase. The ladies seems to like it, very much so. Comforting, fine, they say.
Remark on longevity: got in a friend’s car 6-7 hours after spraying. Sprayed only on body, not on clothes, yet, my friend could smell it heavily in the car 12 hours after our short drive.
Maybe the Intense version is optimal for summer.
