Welcome to the Volcano Island
I didn't seek out Aka'ula. But this fragrance found me.

In my local fragrance boutique, I was actually looking for something else. But as it often happens, while sniffing around, the expert also shows you more unusual scents. This one caught me right away.

There’s sweetness in the air, a hint of soapiness, but above all, a pleasant, slightly shimmering smoke. It's not wood fire and certainly not tobacco smoke. It's more of a metallic smoke that reminds one of a forge. I had to test it more closely and took the fragrance home with me. Sprayed it on again here and observed...

It starts with alcohol, the metallic smoke, and a pleasant soapiness into which a very subtle sweetness quickly sneaks in. After about 30 minutes, it settles and takes me to a coast.
Sitting on a volcano, I enjoy the scent of this tropical idyll. It smells of sea and tropical rainforest and of volcano. I perceive a bit of salt and a floral scent that reminds me of Monoi. There are hints of green notes joining in. Above all, there is this smoke that makes me think of black volcanic rock.
Throughout the day, I catch whiffs of smoke again and again, without it ever becoming too intrusive or bothersome.

On me, it lasts 8-10 hours and I find it rather close to the skin.
Certainly not a fragrance for every day. But for those seeking something special and not shying away from smokiness, this work should be examined more closely!
