Version (not so) black
I don't think that the name version black suits this fragrance. Black could lead someone to think of a bold, intoxicating, head-turnig fragrance. Well this is not at all the case here.

I first got this fragrance a few months ago for 6€ (yes a full bottle!) because it was the last one on the shelf. But I didn't wear it until this summer.

Now that my bottle has a noticeable dent, I believe I have enough experience to talk about this fragrance. When you first spray this on you get an initial burst of citrus which is soon followed by a soft and linear lavender note and some woodsy notes on the base.

To me this fragrance feels like lying on freshly washed bedsheets in a sunny morning. The scent is so calming that I even spray some on my wrist before going to bed sometimes. Someone could easily wear this in the office or at the gym, and generally in any casual occasion during the spring/summer.

The performance is what you would expect from a 6€ fragrance, I can't really say that I'm disappointed because I walked into this with no expectations. On my skin it lasts for about 3 hours, but it becomes a skin scent after the first one.

The bottle looks pretty basic and minimal and the atomiser and cap feel pretty cheap. The atomiser (even though it's plastic) has decent distribution.

Overall, I'll give this fragrance a 6/10. It smells really simple and it's good for casual occasions with the performance being the most important drawback.

Do you need a designer?
So first of all, I'm a big Varens fan. This one does not exist in my country so I ordered it for 6.15€ (50ml bottle). Ever since I got it it has become my afternoon fragrance and for good reason.

PROS:
- It smells AMAZING. Boozy, creamy, vanilla and lots of coffee is what I get from it
- Decent longevity for the price. On my skin it lasts for about 5 hours and projects for the first 2. On clothing I can still smell it the next morning
- Crowd pleasing / Inoffensive. Never met anyone who didn't like the smell

CONS:
- Atomizer. Maybe I'm asking for a lot here but I HATE plastic atomizers, so for me it's a big con even though you can get decent sprays from it.

Overall for me, this one is better than many 50-70€ fragrances out there. Don't be afraid to wear a cheap fragrance, after all, no one likes snobs.

A value beast
Big Varens fan here. This little guy was the first one I tried from the brand. I got it as a gift and I didn't pay much attention to it at first. Fast forward to today, UDV has become kind of a signature scent for me.

It is not the most modern/mass appealing scent out there, but it will get you some compliments (It sure did for me).

My only problem with it is, you guessed it, the performance. On my skin it lasts for about 2.5 hours and projects for no more than an hour before becoming a skin scent.

Overall a top scent that costs nothing. It's the right thing for you if you don't mind carrying your fragrance with you and reapplying.
