Absolutely beautiful, photorealistic magnolia.
Absolutely beautiful, photorealistic magnolia. Opens with the green lemony sweet floral scent of magnolia. The moss is wet, bright green and fresh, the patchouli whispers a hint of earthiness, there’s a tiny bit of dry, sweet spiciness coming from the cedar and vetiver reminiscent of the magnolia bloom that smells like a creamy, lemony ginger jasmine. The amber in the base is spot on. Not overly creamy or soapy like you’d find in most magnolia scented products. This adds a touch of warm waxiness, like you’re rubbing those beautiful sturdy waxy petals between your fingers.

Floral, fresh, bright, clean and joyful.. like the promise of summer. Perfect, if magnolia is your thing.

Rose petals drying out, curled and browning at their edges.
To my nose this is a very dry, slightly spicy rose. With a very vintage feel. The truffle adds a real earthiness to it amongst the honey tones. The best way for me to describe it is, it’s a bunch of pink roses that were put into a vase a few days ago but no water was added. The rose buds and leaves are starting to dry out. There is still sweet tea rose scent escaping the curled browning petals that smells mired honeyed rather than dewy, but there’s an earthy, musty scent that slightly dusty coming from the crispy dry leaves.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…..
This opens with a burst of green, sweet florals. I can immediately smell the tuberose and orange blossom, but not just their blossoms. Their leaves and stalks are there too. I don’t find it campherous at all, maybe a little hint in the dry down at times, just that the eucalyptus keeps the perfume bright and fresh, in the way ambroxan makes my eyes pop.

The tuberose has been tamed; not in a cage, but amongst a bed of other flowers that are basking harmoniously in the sunshine. As it settles into the heart it becomes more solar with the ylang ylang, melon and coconut. And then the dry down!! A changling perfume, these are my favourite as they keep my nose and brain active all day long. Sometimes the orange blossom and bergamot comes through with the melon giving it that fresh, clean shampoo vibe. Sometimes it’s a bright, beautiful neroli floral. Sometimes the tuberose, ylang ylang and amber dance together with the jasmine giving the smooth creaminess of a magnolia. Sometimes the white musk and galbanum catches your nose giving a profile of a dewy early summer garden, the soil still wet from a sunny light rain shower. Sometimes there’s a surprise woody coconut.

Ropion doesn’t miss when he’s handling his florals - I’m in a bright, bold, fresh floral heaven.

I love it!

sexy and alluring, clean yet old money dirty.
Opens with a blast of beaver butt of animalic dried fruits and a slight hint of manure. As it starts to settle the hints of lavender is more noticeable amongst the citrus, vanilla and spices. I don’t find this overly warm or santal like. Despite its rude opening, for me, it settles as a very well blended complex sweet, animalic fruit, woody, cashmere musk nestled on a bed of vanilla with a gentle amber. It actually reminds me of a masculine oriental fougère leaning Shalimar. Not something I would wear as it leans very masculine to my nose. Quite sexy and alluring, clean yet old money dirty.

A big, bold, beautiful beast
A big, bold, beautiful beast of leathery and animalic spicy green apple, rose and cypriol oud.

It shouldn’t work, right? As it settles with a captivating, complex, luxurious smoothness that maintains its boldness, it proves why Ropion is the master. I’m taking one for the team today by having this on my skin, as it’s not for me. Yet one spray on the other half’s wrist, rubbed together then rubbed on his beard is exactly what I’m talking about! He’s on a promise. Yes please!

Experience taming wild animals is not required but do approach with caution!
