Summer, sun, sunshine
I'm an absolute coconut fan and at some point you're bound to come across this fragrance. It was in my collection relatively quickly, thanks to Amazon and the low price.

When you spray it on, the coconut immediately appears and doesn't disappear. With a lot of imagination you can sense other notes, but as I said: with a lot of imagination.

All in all, I have to say: this fragrance is nice if you like coconut, but somehow boring and one-dimensional. There are fragrances that you "discover" when you wear them. Again and again, you find yourself smelling yourself and realizing that there is something else there. You don't discover this fragrance. You spray it on and it's just there. Obviously coconut, obviously summer, but just too obvious.

The performance is ok, for the price it's fine. I find the bottle boring to ugly.

Unfortunately, I don't know the "OG", i.e. "Party in the Bay" or "Virgin Island Water", perhaps they are more playful and sophisticated.

Over time, I have switched to other summer fragrances, such as "Le Beau - Paradise Garden" or "Fusion D'Issey by Issey Miyake".

The beginning of my Aventus love
... and actually also the beginning of my collecting of fragrances.

Years ago, I came across this fragrance at Zara and was fascinated by its DNA. Aventus? I didn't know it. Dupe? What is a dupe? I had zero experience of a fragrance world existing alongside the usual designers.

By chance, I don't know exactly how, I discovered that this fragrance is a dupe of Aventus and the rest is history. Over time, the internet showed me dupe after dupe and I came across brands like Lattafa and the like and was fascinated by the world of fragrances and dupes.

On the subject: Vibrant Leather is a good dupe in my eyes, the only weakness is the performance. I like the presence of the individual notes, like the mix of fruity and woody and think that Vibrant Leather is a good match for the original (depending on the badge). At some point around 2022, I think the performance dropped off again. I used to find VL more intense.

I always had several bottles of VL, one at home, one in my backpack, one in the car, just to spray it again and again, because the DNA is addictive. If the performance were better, the fragrance would still be with me.

BUT: over time, I've learned that there are better ones. Currently, one of my favorites is Ayat Black Amsterdam, or the Blub de Nuits in various versions. At some point, I used up VL and ended up with other dupes.

Nevertheless, that's where it all started and I thank VL for that :-)

So normal and yet so special
The Dylan Blue was in the advent calendar my wife gave me. 23 doors with various samples and on the 24th the Dylan Blue in 30 ml. So I didn't buy it myself and had no idea what to expect.

My wife knows that I go for citrusy, aquatic, maritime, etc. scents and hit the mark with this one. "So normal and yet special" is the scent for me. After spraying it on, you immediately encounter "quite normal" shower gel vibes that still catch me. A well-made "normal" fragrance that somehow manages not to come across as normal or cheap.

I also find it fascinating how such a freshie can last so long. I can smell it all day long and there's absolutely no need to spray it on again. In addition to all the Aventus variations that are my standards, Dylan Blue is a permanent fixture in my collection.

The bottom line is that it's a freshie that doesn't offend and is an absolute beginner's fragrance and blind-buy candidate.

Well done, Versace!

How it all began
Clinique Happy For Men was the first fragrance of my second "fragrance career". By that I mean the phase where I started to get more involved with it and collect it. Before that, I was only a user of one or two fragrances that I mainly knew from colleagues or from advertising.

Through Happy for Men, I was confronted for the first time with the fact that there are "other" fragrances besides the mainstream and also fragrances with quite different, interesting notes, which I had never thought about before.

It is precisely these notes that make Happy For Men special and these notes give meaning to the name of the fragrance. Fresh and citrusy with an orange that is absolutely dominant for me makes it a fragrance that you wear and are simply happy. I hardly notice the other notes. For me, Happy For Men is an absolute tangerine bomb that fits spring and summer like a glove.

The fragrance is not a mega performer, as is so often the case with fresh, citrusy fragrances, but it doesn't have to be. I'd rather put on another one.

Now, in spring, when I look out of the window in the morning, I am much, much more likely to reach for this fragrance than in winter. 20 degrees, sunshine, loose clothing and just being happy. This is supported by the totally beautiful mandarin from Happy For Men. Uncomplicated, unexciting, but beautiful, beautiful and beautiful again. I like!

Aventus DNA in better and "new"
I have already written about it elsewhere. Aventus is my signature fragrance. I have the original, lots of dupes, I like to wear it all the time, but I do get tired of it from time to time.

At some point I started looking for Aventus alternatives, i.e. not dupes. One of the candidates was this one.

Scent: it has similarities to Cedrat Boise, but is almost better than Cedrat Boise. It is already very different from Aventus, but in my eyes the DNA is such that any Aventus lover will like it too. Lasting power and sillage are top in my eyes. Applied in the morning, as standard on skin and clothes, I can still smell it clearly in the evening.

Price: it comes to +/- 30.00 € for 65ml, which puts it almost in the "designer" range in terms of price, so not a bargain now either, but definitely worth every penny.

Angelina Patchouli once described it as the "evil brother" of Aventus and I think it's very fitting. For me, it's a fantastic summer fragrance that I can actually wear all the time. I can wear all the time.

An absolute blind buy candidate.
