The Internet Trail

When you buy from ebay, do you follow up who the Seller really is? I believe it would be reassuring to have at least an idea of who the Seller is. That does not say anything about the perfume you are buying, but still.

So when you pay with PayPal, there is a clue who you are sending the money to. Without mentioning names, let me just say that from that payment clue, you can then put that information into the Google Search and find the person who is sometimes on Facebook with amazing details. Clearly that helps.

There is no hiding anymore.

Besides that background information, there is still no guaranty about the product sold. Well, let's just hope that the small bottle of Guerlain's "Aqua Allegoria Ylang & Vanille" I ordered from a lady is in good condition. It is supposed to be NEW.

The last order to Kuwait, see my recent blog article, misfired. They sent me "Lavande Velours" instead. That person, too, I found via the Internet and on Facebook. Great sales talk in their confirmation letter. But no reply from customer service. They lost me as a customer. The logistics to mail the wrong item back to Kuwait - had they responded for an exchange - simply were too much on my nerves and wallet. I don't cry over spilled milk and made short process. I will never wear that - don't like the aroma. So, into the kitchen the bottle went, to be used as room spray. Oh well ...

I got the small miniature of Ylang & Vanille on Amazon. Reliable seller. But it is a bit faint. I checked the number on the bottom of the tiny glass bottle and the number on the tiny carton, they correspond, so the item is authentic. Ylang & Vanille is already of light substance and you have to spray a lot. This is possible with the huge bottle and the miniature is only a tease. I will enjoy the aroma. I have other nice perfumes so I will not pine after one particular scent.

I tend to stay domestic, as limiting as it can be, because refunds/exchanges/returns are easier that way. Also the nailbiting experience I have waiting for a package for up to a month isn't worth the stress for me personally. I have looked up a few sellers. Some are actually Fragranticans (I recognize their names embedded in their screen names), women who sell eBay items from home, and others are stores located in malls in other places. That is unfortunate that you didn't get the perfume you wanted. I had that happen once, and the seller was quick to replace the unwanted scent for me.

I've ordered hundreds of perfumes (including samples) off of eBay. I've had maybe three that had gone bad and one perfume seller who was seriously awful. That's a pretty good average, isn't it? But I've only ordered outside the US a dozen or so times, and those were either Canada or Western Europe. All in all, I've saved thousands of dollars and lost very few.
