Needle Forest Magic
They ran barefoot through the deep, dark Scandinavian needle forest when it started to rain.
They hadn't studied the weather report; they were too spontaneous and carefree for that. It was Thursday evening, and he had finished work early to surprise her. He wanted to show her the recently discovered surprise in a picturesque setting that had successfully hidden from any tourist excursions until now. A hidden natural gem.
A long hike brought them to the enchantingly small forest lake with crystal-clear water, reflecting the sky in the most beautiful blue-green tones. She was in awe.
They could only enjoy the coolness of the water briefly. Gray clouds rolled in, and a thunderstorm broke over them. Before the rain poured down on them, they grabbed their clothes and ran. It felt like several kilometers to their car.
“Ouch!” she grimaced and stopped. The pine needles on the ground pricked her bare feet.
He turned around. His white T-shirt was completely soaked, his muscular body outlined beneath it. The dark, dripping curls hung almost to his shoulders, and his turquoise-blue sparkling eyes enchanted her again and again, as if the clear forest lake was still reflecting in them. He pulled her close and gave her a passionate kiss. They forgot the world around them in the downpour. The warm steam of the dark green forest rose through the soft moss of the earthy forest floor, hiding the two lovers from the curious eyes of the animals...
The scent starts aquatically fresh with bergamot, like a leap into cool water, surrounded by the dense greenery of the forest. Patchouli brings in the earthy note. The dark needles of the pine are dominant, and woods can be sensed. The nuances of green tones are diverse. I can only detect rose in the scented candle in the set; not so much in the Eau de Cologne, nor jasmine.
The longevity is typical of a cologne, like a short but intense rain shower that slowly fades away. A balsamic resinous scent rises through the warm ground like steam, thanks to the gentle frankincense.
It suits anyone who appreciates green fresh scents. I find it light and unobtrusive, suitable for all occasions and times of day. It is neither sweet nor bitter, as the freshness of the forest needs no further ingredients but works beautifully on its own in the beauty of nature.
“Wakening Woods of Scandinavia” is an apt description for a pleasant, calming scent that doesn’t clash or necessarily smell perfumed. I have certainly fallen for its needle forest magic.

The Bottle Bouquet.
"Today is the big day," she thought to herself as she slowly walked through the grand reception hall of her Victorian villa, adorned with lush white flowers. She wore a cream satin blouse, valuable gold jewelry, and dark pleated trousers. The epitome of elegance. Her heels clicked on the dark brown parquet.
Beneath the blouse, she carried a heavy heart, even though the occasion was supposed to be a joyful one. Her daughter would marry a man in just a few hours, a match she wholeheartedly approved of. The future son-in-law proved to be sensible and reliable. He could offer a stable nest full of love and security, making it a bit easier for her to let go.
She had not always had it easy in her life. It was marked by pressure to perform, hard work, and some strokes of fate. Success was a result that came with it. Through iron discipline, she had managed to continue the family empire and invest her wealth in charitable projects, partly to soothe her conscience. She always taught her children to treat every person with courtesy and kindness. Good manners and a sense of order were essential to her, while discretion and professional distance were important.
The staff had done an excellent job in no time, polishing the dark house to a shine. She walked through the lavishly decorated rooms one last time, checking the results. She did this only physically; in her thoughts, she was with her daughter, who pulled her out of her inner film. Before her stood the bride in an elegantly simple designer silk dress. Her hair was smoothly tied back in a chignon, the floor-length veil gently caressing her bare arms. But the most beautiful thing about her was her excited glow.
"You are enchanting, but I have something that you are missing. Something that perfectly suits you and will immortalize the most beautiful day of your life as a lasting memory." With these words, she handed her daughter the pretty glass bottle Le Parfum by Elie Saab.
A floral cloud of orange blossom with minimal freshness enveloped the happy bride and her mother...
Le Parfum is often recommended for special occasions, such as weddings, theater visits, or fine dinners. The fragrance has a certain opulence due to its intensity.
The light sweetness accompanies a woman's most beautiful day or can make it her most beautiful day. For an evening on the couch, it is too overdressed; as a companion for work, it depends on the environment, outfit, and dosage, as it can come across as quite loud. The sillage is enveloping. The longevity is good at about 7 hours.
The scent is a rather mature women's fragrance, described by many as old-fashioned. I do not find it old-fashioned. I describe it as: Pure elegance and classic. Noble and refined. It emphasizes the femininity of a woman who knows her worth.
The top note of orange blossom is strong at first. It may take several attempts to become friends with it. The heart blends jasmine and patchouli, while the base calms with sandalwood and sweet rose honey.
I do not perceive a significant progression, no real depth. The fragrance remains dominantly floral and lightly sweet.
Thus, the daughter walked to the altar and became the happiest wife in the world. At a later hour, the bridal bouquet was to be thrown into the crowd of unmarried women, as per tradition. It was then that the bride realized, in her olfactory floral intoxication, that she had forgotten her bouquet at home. So she decided to improvise and casually threw the bottle into the crowd of eager brides.

When the Firmament Chews Gum
I was sweet 19 when I first encountered this perfume in the drugstore. I was drawn to the beautiful bottle, which I turned in my hands for a long time, admiring it. Deep dark blue glass with sun, moon, and stars. The golden matte-glossy cap gave it that oriental magic. I wanted it. I followed the logic, "If the bottle is pretty, then the scent must be good!" Back then, the 100 ml was almost free. I emptied several bottles.
At that time, I had almost hip-length, light bleached hair, thickened with what felt like two kilos of extensions, and my natural summer tan was further enhanced by self-tanner. Golden cowboy boots, golden jangly accessories, and a golden leather jacket. Standing out at any cost. "More is more," according to this belief, I also bathed in the contents of the beautiful bottle, the scent that announced me 15 km in advance and kept unwanted guests at bay.
So, I strolled through Milan on a weekend trip. How proud I was to travel to the fashion capital and window shop at the designer stores. Moreover, I was amazed that the real designer pieces emphasized their elegance with a certain minimalism that I did not yet appreciate at the time. Old photos still remind me of that time and which perfume accompanied me there.
(I apologize to the Italian fashion city if it has had to air out since my visit. My friends have already forgiven me.)
What fascinated me about this perfume right away was the intense floral rush with a bubblegum note in the top and heart that I can't really place. There are one or two manufacturers that "tried" to copy the scent, but I miss that bubblegum that makes it so unique. Orchid, rose, jasmine, orange blossom. Pleasant sweetness. I can't define the listed fruits. It feels clear and harmonious, despite the loud floral concert. The recognizability makes it an exotic. The sillage is enveloping and strong. The clothes still smell days after application. Sensational for an Eau de Toilette.
Growing up certainly has its advantages. You become more mature and handle your perfume dosage and mindfulness regarding others more responsibly. I've understood that less can be more.
Despite the super duper drugstore offers, I eventually got tired of my former signature scent, as my nose no longer perceived it. My surroundings breathed a sigh of relief.
When I noticed that it had already been discontinued, a wave of nostalgia washed over me, and I had to hunt again to test if I still liked it. An opened 30 ml bottle was already being sold at an outrageous price. I felt regret for how wastefully I had treated the precious liquid back then.
When I held that 30 ml bottle in my hands and sprayed it, the old love ignited anew. Yes, I still love it, or rather, I love it again. The break did us good.
I am older now, having realized that the fight against natural paleness with self-tanner and excessive sunbathing cannot be won. I quietly thanked my way out of opulent accessories and hair extensions years ago.
Sun Moon Stars, however, has remained timeless and beautiful. And it still adapts to the new circumstances today.
One spray is enough. It carries me on a warm summer night to the distant land of fairy blossoms in the Orient, where sun, moon, and stars compete at night, -when everyone sleeps- in a contest. I swing in the firmament in my golden cowboy boots, trying to win the bet for the biggest bubblegum bubble until dawn.
Thank you to my favorite perfumer Sophia Grojsman for this unique gift to all who know how to appreciate this treasure.
P.S. Grojsman’s Diamonds and Rubies by Elizabeth Taylor comes quite close to this scent, but here the bubblegum has been replaced by a lipstick.
