I wanted this for many years because of the beautiful calligraphy bottle but because it was not easily obtainable, I waited and waited, leaving it unsmelled and undiscovered. After all, I have many rose perfumes. I did not think I could find anything unique or more wonderful than what I already tried and loved.

When Calligraphy Rose finally arrived stateside, I got a really good price. Having read many reviews, I was confident I would like this rose. I already have the saffron version and will be getting the original in the near future.

When I opened the package, the smell was already present. It was an old fashioned rose, but jammy. When sprayed, the jamminess really opens and the rose is in full bloom. The surprising thing is that the rose does not stay long, and this is the genius of this perfume: the drydown is distinctly rose-free. There is a milky spiciness there, almost like saffron pudding.

I absolutely love the sillage and lasting power, but the quality of this perfume is shown in the fact that it is neither too strong nor too powerful, yet it is always present. This is difficult to achieve and I tip my hat to the perfumer. This is a spicy rose like no other and I really discovered something new in this perfume, or rather, the way the rose was treated elevated it in a different way than most other rose perfumes.
