Sandalwood, oh Sandalwood…
Reviews about perfumes often vary, which is good, but sometimes it feels so unfair to the scent. Therefore, I want to advocate for a fragrance with this review that many may have already dismissed based on its rating.
But let’s start from the beginning.
The bottle and the packaging are beautiful and elegant, the bottle evokes a hint of retro feeling. It feels good in hand and looks fantastic on the shelf.
The scent on my skin does not reflect at all what is listed in the notes. From the top note to the base note, I smell a soft sandalwood scent that does not leave the wearer’s side. The fragrance is by no means linear; it goes through several phases from fresh to creamy, but the sandalwood remains. Rose, oud? Not for me, maybe a very slight oud note in the background.
The sandalwood note is really soft, creamy, and not at all overpowering for me. There are surely many perfume lovers who do not like sandalwood. Still, give the scent a chance; you might be surprised.
The performance is good for me. At first, I was disappointed because I could no longer perceive the scent after about 90 minutes. However, my wife assured me that it was still there, and in the evening, I occasionally caught a waft of the fragrance, so I assume that the scent works well with skin chemistry and requires some development.
The sillage is even office-appropriate for me; there’s a nice bubble about an arm's length around you. However, I would categorize the scent more for autumn/winter and perhaps spring. My spraying tip would be 3-5 sprays.
My conclusion is:
The retail price may be a bit high, but the quality is there. Anyone looking for an intriguing sandalwood scent should give it a test.

In the Woody Fragrance Forest of the Orient, I am on my way…
So? Curious? Rightfully so. Anyone who doesn't have this scent on their radar has definitely missed out, but now for the details.
I find myself in the forest, it smells of wood, plants, and the birds are chirping. A deer scurries past me on the right. I feel comfortable, as I know this place well; I have been here many times.
A forester comes by and asks if I can smell these rare woods; he hadn't noticed them until today. I tell him it might be my perfume, he steps a bit closer, but not too close, as we all know it has to be 1.5m apart, and confirms that it is my scent cloud. The distance doesn't affect the fragrance, as its sillage is good.
The forester asks, what is the name of this scent?
I respond with a loud Sotoor!!! WAAW! He flinches and replies that he only wanted to know the name and that it wasn't meant to be a declaration of war.
No, no, the scent is called that. A strange name, but he writes it down and moves on.
I walk a bit further and am pleased that I have made someone aware of a rather unknown fragrance. I perceive it well, these woods, which are flattering and not unpleasant, the spices, which are hardly noticeable individually but harmonious as a whole. It is simply a beautiful, rounded autumn/winter scent.
I have now been on my way for 6 hours and arrive home. My wife is waiting for me; she is not necessarily a fan of strong, woody scents. Today, however, she tells me that I smell good. This makes me happy and confirms that the longevity is really good.
A few weeks ago, I had concerns, not about the quality, longevity, or scent, no, I was worried about where one could wear this fragrance. At work, people already walk away from me with less, so it is not well-suited there. In my free time, during a walk, it is perfect.
It doesn't cost the earth and offers so much. There are many fragrances that have this quality, stepping away from the entire mainstream; they just need to be discovered.

In football, he would be the all-rounder
This is how a coach would probably describe this perfume. The scent simply does absolutely nothing wrong. Everyone I asked in my circle likes the fragrance, whether man or woman.
The scent is the box-to-box player in football, solid in defense and with forward accents. However, what sets him apart is that he plays his best games when he doesn't draw attention to himself. For the old football fans, let's call Coach for Men the Dieter Eilts of perfumes. Not particularly handsome, but he does his job and that with every use.
At first, Coach smells fresh like after a shower, later it becomes a bit weaker but also a bit more robust. The longevity on me is average. However, it lasts great on clothing. So, if you're looking for an everyday scent without wanting to go wrong, you should definitely pay a visit to Coach.

If Cool Water Were a Pokemon..
then it would have evolved into Cool Water Intense after a long training session. I loved the old Cool Water and held onto it for a really long time. As is often the case, the manufacturers came up with the trendy idea to reformulate the old Cool Water.
In short, even I could no longer hold on to it. The DNA was old and musty, and somehow it smelled like the father of my ex-girlfriend.
Unbeknownst to me, however, Davidoff pulled off a stroke of genius. They took the Cool Water DNA, trimmed it for 2019, and bred it so high that they could write Intense on it. They added a little coconut and hoped that the old fans would take the bait.
I took the bait and was not disappointed. It smells like a new Cool Water, like the sea, beach, and good vibes. The longevity on my skin is incredible. However, you have to be careful not to spray too much. For me, a successful comeback and Level UP!

For me, a nose pleaser
I would never call myself a perfume expert; in fact, I'm just starting to dive into this world, even though I loved applying my grandfather's EDT when I was 11. It must have seemed strange for an 11-year-old to walk around smelling of leather and tobacco ?.
Now, let's talk about Dunhill Desire RED. I had seen and read quite a bit online, and somehow I felt drawn to it. So I thought, this should be my first blind buy! The risk wasn't great, and I had just parted ways with my beginner drugstore perfume collection.
I won't throw around technical terms, as I hardly know any ?. So, to put it simply, to me the scent smells soft and sweet. The top note smells quite good to me and changes only a little, which I really appreciate, as it means no surprises. According to surveys, well, I asked my wife. More specifically, I just keep holding my arm under her nose, and she confirmed that she likes the scent. So that's already half the battle for me. The longevity is okay, not a beast but also not a fleeting cloud. I also find that the DNA is quite unusual, and you don't necessarily go with the flow, yet it’s not intrusive, making Dunhill Desire a good everyday scent for me.
Best regards
Daniel
