Islay Whisky to Spray On...
...that was the first association that shot into my mind after I had Patchouli 24 in my nose. Those who know the top-notch Scottish whiskies from the Isle of Islay know what I mean: They all have a more or less pronounced peaty and smoky flavor (and of course also scent), which you either love or hate! In this fragrance from Le Labo, in addition to the aforementioned scent components, there is also wood and a pleasant vanilla note that softens the initially dominant smoke/peat with a slight sweetness. Here, too, the comparison to whisky is appropriate, as vanilla can be found in many varieties.

A truly extraordinary fragrance that will surely not please everyone - and it doesn’t have to! But it is precisely the special fragrances that polarize and split the masses into two camps. Just don’t be put off by the first impression after spraying - those who give Patchouli 24 a little time will receive a very warm and pleasant scent that continually tempts me to sniff it again.
By the way, I generally like the perfumery Le Labo. They simply reduce fragrances and bottles to the essentials and are very innovative.

Oh, and for those who now feel like trying a Scottish Islay whisky, I recommend the following distilleries: Lagavulin, Ardbeg, and Laphroaig. Slainte!

Well done, but...
...not for me.

I truly respect Mr. Ellena for this work - Terre d'Hermès is definitely not an average fragrance and seems to have a lot of followers nonetheless or perhaps because of that (see also the previous reviews).

In any case, Ellena really came close to his goal: to unite the elements of earth, water, and air in a fragrance.
However, the earth definitely prevails as an element - and by that, I don't really mean earthy scent notes, but rather what grows on it. The main components that linger for me throughout are overripe oranges (but not sweet!) and spicy wood. The earthy nuance that some are looking for or want to discover seems to have been achieved through the use of Atlas cedarwood with its scent of damp, kneaded clay. However, the cedar itself is much more present and pronounced for me.
The woody spiciness is complemented by the sparkling hint of pink pepper (which I love in certain dishes, but is actually not a true pepper). The real black pepper has remained hidden from me.

The wearer of Terre d'Hermès, in my eyes, is right in the middle of life (30+) and has a clear idea of it.

One might think that I would like the fragrance based on this description - but I must unfortunately (?) deny that. I respect it and its wearers, but in this case, it simply seems to fail due to my personal and subjective taste.

Random....
I have been giving Allure Homme Sport the whole day to convince me - now the time has come to give up...

Okay, I have to admit that it would have surprised me a lot to draw a positive conclusion since I am generally very critical of "sport fragrances," but I give almost every scent a chance.

The specific problem with sport editions is usually that they simply want to "refresh" and lighten the original version with citrus or aquatic components. The end result of this approach: Another random fragrance that the world doesn't need. It bothers no one, hurts no one, and is as unnecessary as a goiter.

I like Kretek cigarettes...
...whoever has ever smelled these clove cigarettes from Indonesia will either love or hate them - and will always recognize them! Gucci pour Homme is not quite as extreme, but it always reminds me of the scent of these cigarettes.
In general, it is a true spice scent - mainly Christmas spices (including Apicius' list) with a broad woody base and a very light sweetness, which makes the fragrance particularly suited for the current Christmas season and thus for Christmas markets. The only downside is the longevity: especially outdoors, the scent dissipates very quickly, so I have even found myself reapplying it in various perfumeries.

I cannot understand the discussion about the target audience. Of course, it is not a perfume for teens, but from the mid-20s onward, Gucci pour Homme is definitely wearable. It is more about the season - I generally only wear it in the cold months, preferably in November/December.

This scent simply gives me a warm, cozy feeling, and even while I am writing these lines, I catch myself sniffing it again and again. Strict or sacred darkness does not come to my mind at all - rather this image: Christmas Eve gathered with family around the Christmas tree. The fireplace provides comforting warmth, the candles are glowing, and the whole house smells of Christmas. Wishing you all a lovely pre-Christmas season!

For the little Maharaja in each of us...
For several weeks now, I have been passively following the world on Parfumo.de
The fact that a fragrance I highly appreciate only has 2 comments has finally turned me into an "activist"!

Original Santal is my first fragrance from Creed and was a blind buy because I got it at a good price. Fortunately, it hit me right away!

Original Santal is supposed to immerse the wearer in the world of Indian Maharajas; an exciting, royal, decadent scent from 1001 Nights.
As the name suggests, sandalwood has a clear dominance in this composition from the Creed family.
It radiates a pleasant spiciness and warmth after a short time.
The spicy component is complemented by the mentioned top notes and rosemary - however, I find it difficult to detect them individually. Rather, they form a truly successful spice bouquet that is beautifully rounded off by the sweetness of tonka bean and vanilla.
This rather heavy mixture is further enhanced by the slightly citrusy hints of orange leaves and ginger. This lightening somewhat mitigates the heaviness and makes Original Santal a perfect companion for a long night for me.
However, I would not recommend applying it too generously - contrary to DirkDS's opinion, Original Santal can indeed overwhelm the environment! It is definitely not a light perfume and also
not suitable for work - unless you work in a bar/club in the evening, etc.
