About Althair and Liquid Brun…
Right. Let’s get this out of the way: I have never been a fanboy of PDM or any similar brands. Never understood the hype. The brands like that always gave me the impression of 30$ worth of juice in a 300$ bottle, like someone decanted supermarket custard into a Fabergé egg and called it luxury. But you know-live and let live. If someone wants to smell expensive while secretly being robbed blind, who am I to judge?
Dupes? Clones? "Inspired-by interpretations"?
Basically perfumes that look over at someone else’s work and say, "Yeah, I’ll have what he’s having."
No thank you. I’ve always thought originality was rather nice!
But because the world is now a surreal capitalist theme park where value is measured exclusively in how much of a mug you’re willing to be, and because I am-as my dear friend Cindy lovingly calls me—a "weirdo" and "moron" (I still haven’t decided whether she’s insulting me or just can’t pronounce "precious angel" correctly), I suddenly got the urge to smell Althair.
And the moment I did… I was hooked.
Instantly.
Catastrophically.
And then came the existential crisis.
How did this happen?
Did the perfume influencers-those majestic creatures who influence absolutely no one-finally infiltrate my psyche?
Does Eaud’Eau Person secretly know what she’s talking about? 👀
Was this a side effect of COVID?
Radiation from unidentified flying object 3 I Atlas?
Am I losing my mind?
…Although, honestly, was I ever in possession of one to begin with?
So many questions. Zero reasonable answers.
Naturally, I began my noble quest: to find Althair at a normal price, i.e., its actual worth.
All the while praying I wouldn’t find it, to remain faithful to my anti-PDM religion.
Then the truth dawned on me, as harsh and unforgiving as a Swiss parking fine:
"You’re not getting a full bottle of Althair for 30$, mate."
I was in deep vanilla-amber treacle😶🌫️
So, channeling my inner Mulder and Scully, I dove into the internet’s murky perfume forums. And there it was.
A thread full of people proclaiming the virtues of a miraculous fragrance-a glorious dupe of Althair, available at discounters for 40–50 $.
I thought:
"Yes. Absolutely. Inject it directly into my bank account."
So I blind-bought the legendary Liquid Brun.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Or at least a mildly humiliating anecdote😅

Current verdict:
I got my "Althair" in the form of Liquid Brun at the price it ought to be sold for. Exactly that. Not more. Not less.
And thanks to French Avenue, I even got a lovely presentation to stare at while questioning my life choices.
I couldn’t be happier, which probably tells you everything you need to know about my emotional stability.
PS:
I STILL DON’T PREFER BRANDS LIKE PDM.
I STILL HATE DUPES.
But apparently I’ll buy them if the universe dares me to.
Consistency is overrated anyway.
Sincerely yours,
The Weirdo and the Moron (both played by me)
Cheers! 🥃

It’s so funny. I know the feeling. I couldn’t help falling in love with Oajan, and unlike you, I wasn’t smart enough to just get a dupe and call it a day. I bought a full bottle from a discounter only to find out that I actually like the dupe (Legion) just as much, if not better. Getting clones for PDM fragrances is definitely the way to go. They’re not difficult to dupe!

You’re absolutely right though, if any brand is easy to dupe, it’s PDM. Their fragrances practically walk out of the lab begging to be cloned. At this point, buying the dupe is the ethical choice. Or at least the financially responsible one! 😆
