Rollercoaster
I’m on a fig journey lately as I want to explore some more clean fruit notes for summer. I’m divided on this one though. The drydown is beautiful: very soapy fresh and clean, tea and wood notes come through on me with a little spicy kick. It’s like the hand soap at a very nice hotel/ spa.
The opening, though, is another story. Cloyingly sticky sweet in a way that makes me feel very unsophisticated and juvenile. You know how toddlers always have sticky hands and mouth from jam or whatever and you can smell it on them? I can’t really explain it any other way but that’s the first 5-10 minutes of this experience on me. Even though it wears off quickly that initial blast can be a total vibe killer.
I bought the purse spray so I’ll keep testing under different weather conditions, situations etc. it’s possible I can come around on the opening if it means I can enjoy the aftereffects.
UPDATE: My period ended and now it smells totally fine lol, especially on shower fresh skin. I also found it helps a lot to layer it with a more clean earthy base. I have been using kuumba made’s egyptian musk to add soapiness and grounding. It plays up the powder and dry tea notes that I initially liked.
