First ever samples! Like, ever.

Until a few months ago, I've never held much interest for fragrances or even just scented products in general. I never even used deodorant—didn't feel the need to because I don't have much body odor. I only started finding myself becoming interested in fragrances when I received a complimentary gift card for my university store and was intrigued by the few Bath & Body Works mists I saw on their catalog. As one usually does before purchasing an unfamiliar product, I looked into each mist. That led me to Fragrantica, where I suddenly fell to my old habit of getting way too into whatever topic I'm researching. Then I found out about Fragrantica's rather sketchy views, which naturally led me here. All within the span of an hour... and suddenly I had an account on here!

A month or two after my purchase of one of the body mists with the aforementioned gift card, I was searching for popular fragrances worn by men in the '90s and one that kept coming up was Drakkar Noir. Naturally, I also came across Al-Rehab's Dakar, the highly praised dupe of Drakkar Noir's '90s formulation. And, naturally, I made an impulsive blind buy because I fancied the thought of smelling like a douchey line cook ex-boyfriend from the '90s. Thank goodness it was a cheap purchase. Shame it was a full bottle, because unless I find someone to give it to, it's gone to waste. Turns out I do not, in fact, want to smell like a douchey line cook ex-boyfriend. I don't know if it's because I don't like such scents or because the scent just doesn't suit me... Now I've learned that I should buy samples instead of leaping straight for the FB.

This time, I decided to think of what scents I'd actually enjoy smelling on the regular. Gentle scents... Gourmand scents... Sweet scents... I thought of my favorite desserts, like cinnamon rolls. My search for a cinnamon roll fragrance led me to recommendations pointing me in the direction of Kheimistrii's Sinn-A-Bun. I was thoroughly pleased upon seeing that this brand had multiple scents of the same sort and promptly decided to buy a discovery set. After narrowing down scents that caught my eye, I ended up with Sinn-A-Bun, Snickerdoodle (Another one of my favorite desserts!), Goofballs (Salted buttery caramel popcorn and marshmallows? Count me in!), Watermelon Agua Fresca (I've always loved watermelons and fruity agua fresca, so why not smell like one?), Beachfront Resort (What a pleasant description! This choice has nothing to do with the fact that the fellow I fancy said he's into "oceanic" fragrances!), and an extra sixth sample that was kindly offered, for which I chose Strawberry Sugar Cookie (I eat cookies every day. I also eat cake every day... Can you tell I'm very big on desserts and sweets yet?).

The order arrived yesterday (right on time) and I was able to pick it up today! Neatly, cutely packaged, and with a lovely carrot-cake-flavored lollipop! Yes, carrot cake is another one of my favorite desserts, and yes, I've finished the lollipop. My friends greatly dislike carrot cake and were horrified as I flaunted how I chewed the remains of the lollipop into little bits.

Real shame that I have a nasty cold that's messing with my sense of smell. Ugh. There goes my plans for sweetly distracting relief from my university assignments.
