Meetup/Swap Event - August 15th @ Art Hill, 2:00PM

Hey everyone! Since a few of us here were talking about a potential meetup I figured we might as well just put something on the calendar and see what we can get going for our first meetup. Just based on the date and location discussed in the previous thread, let's try for August 15th at Art Hill. Maybe time-wise we can aim for 2:00 or so? Who all is interested? Feel free to invite friends who may be interested, the more the merrier. We can bring samples and trade em. If anyone has tester strips or decant bottles that could be nice to bring and we can do some sniffing and testing and trading.

Share any thoughts, ideas, plans, discussion in this thread!

Omg yes! I can do the 15th. It might be cooler to do a morning thing, like 10am? But I am flexible and would go whenever most schedules align. Also there are lots of shaded spots with picnic tables in tower grove, bit idk how many of those would be reserved on a saturday. I am willing to chip in on a reservation but it would be great if we could crash one for free! of course if someone has a card table we can just post up any old place. Oh and the farmers market runs in tower grove on saturdays so it would be busy around the middle section. I'm just rambling now lol, discuss!

My wife and I have a class from 11-12:20ish so it's possible we could do early but we'd need to head out around then, so it's do-able if needed but it depends what everyone else is needing. I do love Tower Grove, though the farmers market may make it pretty busy and sometimes it's hard to figure out exactly what pavilion/area we are talking about. Open to others' ideas

Absolutely down for the 15th. I live in Shaw so Tower Grove is a great option for me too. I've been putting aside the 2mls that I'm not in love with for just such an occasion.

The 15th is great for me! I agree I think Art Hill is best! Or we could find an open table (maybe near the Spanish Pavilion?) I don't know what their policy on reservations are with smaller or informal groups is. But I do think Saturday at TGP gets too crazy with the market and it's hard to find parking. 2pm is fine with me, unless we wanted to wait until it's cooler and do around 5?
I have some makeshift tester strips I can definitely bring since I have lots of card stock from my crafts. may have some pipettes as well but no vials :( I think I'll bring one or two people as well if they end up being interested! I'm also going to try to get a poster together to hang around town if that works, I'll post it here before I print multiple.

Sorry to chime in late but where are you thinking around art hill? We are definitely gonna want some shade on an august afternoon.
Plus the farmers market in tgp wraps at 12:30, so if we wait til 2 it shouldn't be terrible over there. Or at least no busier than art hill on a saturday?
Also I have some sample vials but no pipettes!

Hi there! I'm brand new to the group and just now seeing all of these posts. If it's helpful, I have a pop-up awning and a small folding table that can be used. As long as everyone brings their own lawn chair, it could work 👍

Ohh ok I didn't realize the market only went until 12:30, I was under the impression that it went into the afternoon.

I have already hung/passed out the posters for the 15th, but I would definitely be down to do a future event in TGP in the later afternoon.

There is normally a shadier half of Art Hill depending on time of day, so we can definitely play that by ear depending on the shadier side. I have some lettering/signage to help identify us from afar also. Super kind of drawingwind to bring the awning also!!

Here's the poster I have! I recycled it from a failed event last year. I would glue down the date, but this is just preliminary in case we change our mind on the time. Could do the same for the location in case that doesn't work out. Let me know if you guys think this is ok before I print off a couple and hang them around :)

oh wow awesome!!! really cool poster. should definitely put some of those up or print little card versions of it and give em to places like Field Theory, AO & Co, maybe even Plaza Frontenac since they have a Nieman Marcus and LV. places where fragrance people probably end up.

I'm torn between art hill and tower grove park, but maybe art hill is the better move since it's a little more visible. maybe you could include a QR code for this forum group as well that way people can join in on discussion and the community can grow!

Thanks so much! Ok sounds good I'll go ahead with it then and print some off! Maybe in the future we can do TGP on a non-Saturday if we have a bigger group and want to make a pavilion reservation.
Tbh I have no idea how to do a QR code but I will definitely hang these at a few places frag heads are likely to go to! Sadly AO&Co didn't seem stoked last year since they don't have a message board or anything and they seemed more exclusive with their branding.

I know Field Theory had a business card for a fly fishing shop and posters for some camping event so I think they may be more likely to put it up. there's a few other stores nearby that fragheads might dig like that dharma store, civil alchemy, the one that sells local crafts, etc.

Excited to meet up with everyone! I'll try to remember to bring some nametags, since that's always a nice thing to have for something like this. Anyone have some sample vials for exchanging decants and stuff?

from what folks have said above (please correct me if anything has changed!)
@booonbooon - nametags
@drawingwind - table and awning
@TheVectorian - signage, test strips, and pipettes
@boscotron (meee) - sample vials (dauber/wand caps).
might also bring a cooler with some waters and a jar of coffee beans to help folks reset their sniffer.

everyone - perfume samples to swap and favorite smells to sniff! byo chair if desired
