Niche Fragrance St. Louis

Not sure how many people on here are from St. Louis but I would love to see more community among the fragrance fans here so let's see if we can make it happen! Feel free to introduce yourself here.My username is booonbooon (Booon! Booon!). Fairly new to this hobby (about 3 months lol) but enjoying it a lot so far. Been enjoying sampling at Neimann Marcus, LV, Nordstrom, Macy's and Sephora. Wondering if there's anywhere I'm not aware of with really cool selection or more indie/artisan fragrances for sale, or some kind of cool events (despite how much I use this site, I generally much more enjoy an IRL community than a virtual one). Some of my favorite scents are Nimitr, Black Orchid Eau de Parfum, Sticky Fingers Extrait de Parfum, Derviche, Terre d'Hermès Eau de Toilette, and Oscar Parfum. Welcome! I hope there's more here :) If there's enough people from outside of St. Louis proper maybe this could pivot to Missouri or if REALLY needed, Midwest, though I'd love if this could be as local as possible.

Of course writing reviews on here is a great way to keep track of frags, but I'm wondering if anyone else has an excel or list of their frags? I keep an excel of all the ones I've tried, that I own, and that I want to try, and am trying to get a bit more technical with it. I like the filter functions and also a way to see everything I haven't bought but am pining for lol. What kinds of information is relevant for you to remember the frag or helpful for reference? So far I have: the house name/frag name, the notes as described by the perfumer, my personal impressions and comments, a numerical rating, whether it's masc/fem/uni, and my notes on the DNA of the house overall. I'm really not very consistent with the ratings, because it's generally either "yes I love and I would buy and wear" or "no this is foul". The ones that are in between normally don't get a lot of distinction from me but I should be more diligent about that. Would love to hear your guys' thoughts!

Hello everyone! And welcome to the new members! When do we want to do our next meetup? My wife and I will be out of the country for two weeks in the back half of September but will probably have a few new things to share after our return. Does October work for people to do another meetup? If so, what day? I thought Saturday afternoon was nice and also liked our Art Hill location last time but we could switch it up if we want. Share your thoughts!

With its reputation as a polarizing fragrance, we sampled Fzotic's Corpse Reviver over a few days. TBF, I went into it not loving the combination of notes even before opening the vial. From Fzotic: Blood orange, camphor, whiskey, rosemary, tagetes, dried fruit, anise, cypress, dark chocolate, vanilla, civet. S. went into this without preconceived notions, so i had him try it first. His first reaction: Licorice and spice. Two of the trhings we both like. On drydown, spice remained and chocolate developed. The initial brightness that led to the immediate 'licorice' impression settled in. On me, it was a little different. Yhe blood orange, whiskey, and rosemary were readily discernible upon application. It eventually dried down on me with whiskey, camphor and chocolate a to a nive undercurrent of licorice. Bottom line: 9/10 for S. 8/10 from me.

Had a hip replacement Tuesday, 8/25. (Not elderly; it happens, kids.). Stayed overnight because of some other stuff that makes the ortho bros twitchy, including full anesthesia instead of a nerve block. Fragrance? I'M GETTING THERE. But at that point it was chlorhexidine all the way, baby. Guess after my husband left, I learned Dolly Parton died. He knew better than to tell me. On the car ride home, i checked email. Order confirmations had been flowing All. Night. Even a shipping notification was already in the works. Le Labo. (The full Classics discovery set + Destination series; WTH?). Beaufort' Hell or High Water discovery set. Storeskuggan. PDM (that one's OOC!). Solstice Scents. Malle. Smallflower. And of course, every fragrance put out under Dolly Parton's brand, complete with the acrylic butterfly caps. ZERO memory of any of this. Don't drug and fragrance binge-shop, friends. I was able to stop most of the orders, thankfully. (Ok, I didn't even try to cancel the BeauFort, Solstice, or Smallflower, Because Reasons.) The House of MudLotus is not wickedly wealthy. Uffda. Remember this if we're out one of these days and i don't drink alcohol. Can't handle me juice. Over & out (and somewhat lighter in the wallet),B.

I didn't know there was a community forming. When I saw the post on the St. Louis subreddit, I had a brain freeze. I thought it was someone in the perfume subreddit asking about shops in St. Louis and not vice versa. 😵‍💫 Anyways, my name's Mary. I've been into fragrances for 15 years. I love and will smell them all (celebrity, designer, niche, etc)! I also enjoy mixing up my fragrances with essential oils and cosplaying as a mad scientist 🧪. I was actually thinking that might be a fun meet up where we bring fragrances that are low stakes to tinker with. Currently testing out the Glossier line. 😊 can't wait to meet you guys!

Thank you everyone for attending the meetup! It was lovely finally having some folks IRL to really nerd out with and to make some trades with. Hopefully we'll meet again soon (maybe in a month or two, though my wife and I will be out for a few weeks in Sept so two months may be better, plus allows for more time to collect things and work through our collections). I've never really layered scents before, but after seeing so much about it online, it got me curious to try it out. So while I've been on vacation the last week, I brought just a couple of fragrances with me and has given me good cause to get creative. I just combined two scents that I've never really thought about going together before, and it has given me so much dopamine. I first put on a realistic lavender fragranced body lotion, and then sprayed Demeter's marshmallow with it. I feel like I'm floating around and cocooned in an airy cloud. It smells so good that it's broken my brain a little.I have a couple of questions for you all. Do you know of a fragrance that showcases marshmallow and lavender together (I don't mean like in a YSL Libre, but more like in a realistic indie/niche way)? And what have you layered together that has surprised you?

I'm not a huge gourmand lover but I was happy to find out that Urban Matter on Grand carries Kerosene fragrances & tried them out. I was there about a year ago so they may now carry some additional brands. I know we mentioned niche stockists in the area and I just remembered this one recently!

Hey everyone! Since a few of us here were talking about a potential meetup I figured we might as well just put something on the calendar and see what we can get going for our first meetup. Just based on the date and location discussed in the previous thread, let's try for August 15th at Art Hill. Maybe time-wise we can aim for 2:00 or so? Who all is interested? I have a 9ml/.30 fl oz Tam Dao Diptyque decant minus a couple of test sprays that for some reason isn't enchanting me as much as I had hoped. Idk if anyone here is interested in swapping for another 30ml of some sort or a handful of samples? It seems like such a small swap to ship somewhere so I hoped someone local may be interested. I also have a Vera Wang 30ml to swap but that seems less desirable since it's not niche.

I think it was one of you who mentioned Field Theory on my reddit post: wow! I finally visited and that store is awesome. A lot of things that are kind of already my aesthetic paired with things that I definitely know could be adapted into my vibe at some point in the future lol. It's hipster for sure but a particular kind of 2026 outdoorsy hipster that I find cool and kinda endearing. But most importantly, the fragrances, wow! The only store I've seen selling "actual" (read: not luxury brand) niche fragrances. There was some cool stuff there and I know I'll need to be back soon to try the rest. Today I sampled two: Hanzo and Neandertal Us. Both were cool! Hanzo had a really interesting evolution, a strangely pissy/heavy incense opening that became greener in the heart and woodsy-fresh-soapy as it went on. Us had a more linear development and was very smoky woody resinous. It had a similar kind of fireplace vibe as Opus XIII - Silver Oud or Opus XV - King Blue but without the barnyardy qualities those have up close. Highly recommend this store for fragrance browsing and also for cool books and clothes.
