Let's stick with yours, Triffid!

SystemeD says Triffid's is up. Here we go.......

Triffid:
That's very kind of you Greysolon.
Here we go:

Did you watch South Park
A few years ago,
When a certain celebrity
Starred on the show;

Amongst other things
(too loathsome to tell)
She sold slutty clothes
And her 'fragrance' as well;

As life follows art,
She has now done the same,
With a real fragrance line
That's promoting her name.

Who is the celebrity?
What is the name of the fictitious fragrance on the show?
What is the name of the real fragrance bearing her name?

No takers yet,
So here's what I'll do:
I'll help you along
With this, one last clue;

Elizabeth Taylor;
Whose acting was fine,
Was first of an era
With her fragrance line;

Now Liz is related,
By marriage, no less,
To the mystery gal
Whose name you must guess.

Who is the celebrity?
Paris Hilton

What is the name of the fictitious fragrance on the show?
"Skanque"

What is the name of the real fragrance bearing her name?
"Paris Hilton" by Paris Hilton

Well done, Flaconneur, CORRECT AGAIN!
South Park's predilection for extreme parody resulted in the "Stupid, Spoiled Whore" episode where Paris Hilton visited the mall to endorse a range of age-inappropriate clothing and sundries marketed to young girls, along with her fragrance - a turquoise liquid house in a heart shaped glass flacon with "Skanque' across the bottle in cursive script. It might have smelled more interesting than some of her real fragrances. (According to wikipedia, her fragrance empire has earned 1.5 billion dollars, I'm speechless..)
Elizabeth Taylor's first husband, Conrad 'Nicky' Hilton is, of course, Paris Hilton's great grandfather.
I apologise for selecting fragrances that are likely not held in high regard. For me, it's all about the clues not the actual 'fumes.

Correction, Triffid but Elizabeth Taylor's first husband was Conrad Hilton Jr., aka "Nicky." His father, Conrad Hilton Sr., is Paris Hilton's great grandfather.

Thank you for the correction, Flaconneur. Smile Bound to confuse with all these 'snr' and 'jnr" names. No wonder he was called Nicky instead.

Sorry, Triffid. The genealogist came out in me.

I just noticed there's a son of Conrad Hilton jnr - he's Conrad Nicholson Hilton III!

Here we go...

1. This fragrance wouldn't have been considered direct competition to the 1 billion dollar empire that "White Diamonds" by Elizabeth Taylor earned, but it was another celebrity issue by a desirable and popular performer during that decade. Name the fragrance and house.

Priscilla Presley, Moments?

Could it be "Only for Men" by Julio Iglesias?
Released in 1991, the same year as "White Diamonds" and not considered as a direct competitor as it was marketed to men.

"Spectacular"

by Joan Collins

Ummm Farrah Fawcett...... Cher, Linda Evans.

I'm done Wink

It could be, in fact you're correct, Triffid.

Very clever of you to encourage use of the 'year of release' function with that clue, Flaconneur (well, that's where I started).
I wonder how Only for Men smelled? I'm thinking a sort of dilute Kouros. here is my offering:

It has no taste or colour,
It doesn't have a smell,
So it's funny that a perfume
Should employ this name as well;

Perhaps a band of travellers,
Slyly cast a fragrant spell,
Then they bottled this and took it
To a Swedish house to sell.

Byredo, Gypsy Water?

SystemeD, well done, you are CORRECT!

Here is my attempt at a Flaconneur-style puzzle!
His Italian-born grandmother bottled and sold a peaceful Zeitgeist in postwar France.

Now, he has released a crazy woman. Some say she smells of sex and roses.

Are we talking about "Mad Madame" by Juliette Has a Gun, created by perfumer Romano Ricci who is the great grandson of Italian-born Nina Ricci? Aside from romantic fashion, the house of Nina Ricci released "L'Air du Temps" in 1948. The bottle was adorned with doves, perhaps as a symbol of post war peace.

You have it down to every detail, Triffid!

I look forward to your next clue!

Here we go then:

Drive past the golden arches.
Dont stop to get your meal.
'Cos this place has a fragrance!
(Though with limited appeal)

If 'gourmand' is your genre
And you don't mind swatting flies,
Then wear this as a side dish
To your onion rings and fries.

What is the fragrance/house?
11 years ago
Since there are onion rings involved, it must be "Flame" by Burger King!

And I am not sure I am now happier knowing this exists!
11 years ago
Yes indeed, SystemeD, you are 100% right!
I happened upon this unfortunate entry in the fragrance directory and just had to post it after reading that the fragrance notes are listed as 'grilled meat' (hence my reference to swatting flies when wearing this). There are no user reviews. I'm not surprised.

Don't confuse this British company with a famous Food Network host, even though one of their fragrances shares its name with a common recipe ingredient.
