I think that the clue has become obviously a quest for two fragrances, because if you find the first one the second will be recognized automatically. So, to get it all together, with two extra hints added:

I know it's gonna be a lame guess, but Annick Goutal's Mandragore Pourpre perhaps?

Pourpre is French for purple, which is the offspring of red and blue mating.

Mandragore a.k.a. mandrake is a notorious ingredient in brews, especially the ones made by ladies wearing pointed hats.

Purple originates from The Middle East, where Phoenicians were the first to make it, as far back as 1600 B.C.

Mandrake's root is rumoured to have a resemblance to the human body.

Unfortunately, the beast remains elusive...

No, your guess is not "lame" at all. You are quite right. (and knowledgeable, but don't let it go to your head. lol ) Yes, the mandrake is associated with witchcraft, although somewhat unfairly so, since it was used as part of folk medicine by as you said Middle Eastern as well as Near Eastern people (ie:Israelites) millenia ago.

The only thing you left out was that the "drake" part of mandrake (mandragore/mandragora(s)[Latin/Greek]) is a reference to the root's resemblance to a dragon to some ancients. Hence the beast part.
