Are dupes now allowed? Why was my submission rejected? 2

Hello, two questions:
______________________________________________ __________________

1) I submitted No 76 Spicy Amber Vanilla Eau de Parfum to the database 2 years ago, but it was rejected. Now that this fragrance was accepted into the database this week, I'm wondering if I could please request clarification of why my submission was rejected, yet it is now accepted when re-submitted by another user?

(I couldn't find major differences between my original submission and theirs - so trying to understand what I can do to improve.)

2) Since Miim.Miic states on their website which fragrances they are imitating (example: No 44 Warm Ginger Gourmands Eau de Parfum is an imitation of Ginger Biscuit ), are we allowed to submit other dupe fragrances?

(Wondering if I'm able to resubmit previously-rejected fragrances like Miim.Miic's Strawberry Milk, fragrances from Paris Corner, etc.)

Thank you!

We recently updated our guidelines for accepting dupes, inspired by, and hybrid perfumes. Your original submission may have been rejected because it didn't meet the criteria at the time. Dupes are now allowed if they have a unique name (no number-only catalogues), don’t copy the original's name or design and avoid using protected brand names or logos. Brands may refer to the original with terms like "inspired by..." or "our version of...", but they cannot claim identical scent replication.

The key rule is that if a dupe could be mistaken for the original, it will not be accepted. If you believe your previously rejected submissions now meet these criteria, feel free to resubmit them. 😉

Thanks @DonVanVliet. This is a wise update IMO. Dupes that can be mistaken for the original aren't dupes, they are counterfeits! But real dupes that are "inspired by" are a viable option for people who just don't have the money or don't want to spend what the original costs. Also, dupes are a reasonable option for discontinued fragrances that are only available for megabucks on ebay with questionable storage after 2, 3 or more decades.

@DonVanVliet fantastic, thank you so much for the feedback/clarification and that's great news about the new guidelines! 😊

Totally agree @Smirky on counterfeits vs. dupes and just dupes in general, really glad they're now allowed here! 🎉
