Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...Copied from the original post:"We have threads about what men find attractive on women, and what women find attractive on men, so I'd thought I'd create a thread for gay women. Also, it'd be great if you could specify what type of woman you're into so as to better gauge your fragrance picks. Not sure how many posts this will get, but hey."

Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...Yes, the members are very confused. And some of them (altho a very small minority) feel that this issue should never have been addressed have posted their opinions. One of the members actually said, and I quote " I was and am not interested in all that gay-ish stuff - I am not gay, I don't understand them, that's another story. BUT!..." and goes on to talk about freedom with the exception of this line "These guys are not trying to coax us into becoming gay or something!" And that's what I think this all boils down to, the ignorance of heterosexuals talking about what they think gays like. It's not the same topic as "What does your guy like on you?" or "What frag do you like on your guy?" where you have the experience. To begin with, these are suppositional questions and secondly, what you throw out in the net is forever written in stone. Gay-bashing is very real, unfortunately. That's the point and the original poster was admittedly heterosexual. No one knows if this can turn out to be a type of phishing expedition where things can go horribly wrong. At that point, F is ultimately responsible for allowing it.Freedom of speech is a wonderful right. Ignorance of speech is a mentality that becomes more prevalent in discussions that become heated, especially when facts are not presented initially.

Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...Yes, of course people choose certain types or brands of perfumes for their styles or fashionable sense, also, I would agree. As in a sense of keeping up with the "Joneses". Those are the sheep of society who cannot pick for themselves and allow marketing schemes and the cost of items to dictate good sense to them. Now another one has arisen from the ashes concerning the deletion, which I find quite amusing. Rumours are running rampant about why the original post had been deleted, including "disparaging remarks about lesbians" and "homophobia", which I can attest to that were never there that I saw. It's all the same silliness over there without valid thought. I wish we had a society that truly understood and appreciated the inner workings of the mind, but we don't. We have acceptance here and intelligent thought.Florette, you make a good point. But the sheep are too busy in their herds to hear in another land...

Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...It just amazes me, tho, the stupidity of people. They don't realize the words that they put on the net are forever immortalized. Not to mention how they can be stalked, harassed, etc. Not to mention it's such an ignorant topic, and just incenses me so. I guess I'm so upset by such a lack of mental acuity because a dear friend of mine was targeted a few years ago in a public venue and beaten very badly because of his persuasions. I've seen hatred and what it can do, and something like that forum question is an open breeding ground for the wrong person.

Forum Post Over At "F" Concerning Perfumes For Gay
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...Has anyone seen this forum post over at "F"? It really bothered me that someone posted it, but bothered me more that there are 6 pages of answers so far.http://www.fragrantica.com/board/viewtopic.php?id=74482I simply cannot see why anyone would put up a post asking what someone's sexual preferences were and hide it in the shadows of perfume selection for "gays". There is no reason to even have a discussion for this, in my opinion. People wear perfume because they want to smell good. Perfumes are not designed for certain sexual orientations. I could certainly see that forum going under as a future way of gay-bashing people that openly admitted to being homosexual. (At least in America, unfortunately.) Your opinion?

The fragrance SALE Thread
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...I found a promo code for 10% at Beehive for United Scents but that's no biggie. Does anyone know of a bigger sale of these scents anywhere else? I'm really wanting to try these out. Thanks ahead of time!

Perfumes you won't publicly admit to?
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Nope, I've admitted to all of mine. Even Avon, which so many people snub. I think there are too many people that are perfume snobs for whatever reason. If you like it, wear it, simple as that! Why are people embarrassed to admit to owning certain perfumes? You shouldn't be. To h*ll with what others think, it's what you think that's important.

Which type of perfume collector are you ?
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Now that was a funny article. I fell in love with perfume ever since I first smelled Shalimar as a little girl. As a young teen, I began spending my hard-earned baby-sitting money on drugstore scents. Fast forward to college, and I would head for the department stores and the niches. I've always been a collector, a user and a lover of perfumes. These days, I know what notes I love and that's what I'll buy as a FB. Sampling is easy to do from the net if I really want to know a new perfume. What I truly love to do is find the old vintages that I no longer have and re-stock them or find ones that I never had to simply try them.

Make me a perfume about... (a game)
by Sorceress | Off Topic
...I live in a part of the United States where we celebrate the four seasons, but I haven't always lived where I am now. I adore celebrating the distinct four weather patterns. I would love having a set of four perfumes that were based around each season. Spraying each one would remind me of that particular season...I could close my eyes and envision that time of year. For example, spraying "The Fall" would bring to mind crunching colorful leaves underfoot, the smell of wood burning in chimneys and crisp, cool air. "The Winter" would be a warm scent, highlighted by cinnamon, chocolate and incense. "The Spring" would burst with florals and be a sunny type of perfume, yet still retain a chypre feeling, because the woods are drying from the snow. And "The Summer" would be full of surprises... gourmand because of all the picnics and fairs, grasses for the beaches and lakes, and gentle flowers. As an added bonus, the boxed set comes with Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons"...

...Dulcemio:That's admirable of you, Sorceress. For clarification, what are the "inane games" you refer to?When I said inane games, I was referring to posts such as, "Match The Avatar To A Perfume", "Best Frag Of Person That Posted Above You", Guess The Age Of The Person Above You", "Post Your Fabulous Collection", "Describing the Perfume Wardrobe Of The Person Above You". They're mindless games, but they can also be hurtful games too, they remind me of high school bully games. Jmho.

I Must Have It!!
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...There are a few that I'd like to try. But I live in an area that doesn't have a good selection where I can try testers. I'd like to try 1. United Scents Of America2. I'd like to at least smell some of the scents from the House of Guerlain besides Shalimar and Initial.3. Smell Bent4. Diptyque- I was lucky enough to find Volutes and it's heavenly. But to able to inhale more of theirs would be delightful. Oh to dream....

Random thoughts on Reviews
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...Everyone's writing style is different. Everyone's vocation in life is different. We have all come to Parfumo with different backgrounds. Those of us that write reviews do so with desire and relish because we truly want to describe our feelings about the perfumes we have tried. I've noticed there is a style difference here that takes a reader more onto a journey with the reviewer with their experience of the perfume, rather than at F, where the reviewer may simply dissect the designer, use catch phrases or term a perfume "old lady", "very young", etc. Some reviewers have writing experience and bring that to the table. They shouldn't be chastized for their abilities or writing style. Nor should they "dumb down" as another person has said. Their reviews are more on the educational side, which are just as qualitative as those that may accurately describe true feelings and/or emotions associated with particular perfumes. The more people write, the more reviews we have, the better comparisons readers will have to read. I enjoy reading the quality reviews here at Parfumo. I never have to scroll down through meandering copy to find interesting and relevant reviews. I find them all passionate, from the heart, and well-worded.

Less likely to buy discontinued fragrances? G-man (Eau de Cologne) - Gainsboro / Gainsborough
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...I love the vintages, I do. But after reading about skin in the old liquids....now I am totally grossed out. I do own some splashes and now I don't know if I'll ever use them again. Some were brand-new, never opened before, so they're ok, but others....oh Lordie...what this thread has done to my stomach....now OCD will kick in big-time I just know it....

Parfumo/Fragrantica
by Sorceress | Parfumo Community
...Since I'm relatively new, I'll just say that I do enjoy the degree of intelligence at Parfumo. I'm not one to go from site to site socially anyway. I don't have the time and I'm not interested. I'm a blogger and I'm more interested in the documenting of perfumes for the future. I never thought of this site as cold, but I do think of the other site as more immature. I'll post my reviews on both because people need to read reviews when they're shopping, but as far as interacting in forums, I'm not one for inane games.

...Well, my daughter says she's feeling well. Another week's gone by, so she's heading towards week 34 now. Her doctors had told her as long as she goes 32 weeks they were happy. My oldest was born at 34 weeks and my youngest was born at 26 weeks-he weighed 2 lbs. 6 oz (he's since graduated from college and is 6' tall!) so we're hoping she's out of the woods now.Thank you for asking! :D How's the sashimi Hayven? It sounds wonderful.

Storing & Organising Your Perfumes
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...I keep mine on mirrored trays on my bureaus and vanities except for a little cabinet that holds my miniatures. http://www.parfumo.com/Users/Sorceress/Picture/30683I also keep all of my boxes stored away in cartons in the unlikely event I'd want to sell them some day. But they're out of the way of sunlight, every few weeks I'm always re-arranging my trays (dusting them, etc.). My carded samples I keep in vintage talc containers that I have. They're decorative anyway and they protect. My samples that I get from places like Sephora I stand up in a closed box. I'd really like to keep them in an armoire but I don't have the space.
