...Hello lovelies .. Yes, we have a new home! So, before we go any further, let's lay down some ground rules here:- No twinkly teddy bears, baby animals (kittens included), or cutesy flowers, except in extreme emergency.- No apologising for what we say. If you think you really have to apologise because what you say IS offensive, then it's time to rephrase before posting.- No nicey nice BS just because. It's good to have a moan.- However, above all, and rule number one: Let's Roll! x

Individual Members' Topics at Parfumo?
by Dolby | Parfumo Community
...The blog section is unfortunately not tailored to accommodate all that goes on in an individual member’s topic besides text.Members often share videos and pictures related to the ongoing exchanges (or not) and these cannot be posted on the blog.I second Olga in that it is a nice little corner where likeminded people can hang out, have fun, and relax, while having the rest of the boards to mingle with everybody else.No harm in giving it a shot and see how it goes.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by Dolby | Parfumo Community
...MiaTrost:... many seem to lack the ability of using Search functionalities before posting a thread. This results in massive repetition of topics, which is a total bore; let alone the often pointless content.Yes, this is an aspect that absolutely bores me to tears. I feel that the demographics are somehow different here too. Although there are people interested in what I consider Perfumery with a capital P on Fragrantica, there is also a hell of a lot of Victoria Secret body spray enthusiasts and Paris Hilton & co fans.An enormous amount of topics seem to centre around the issues of finding the sexiest frag, or engaging in "games" where the aim is to allocate perfumes to Disney characters for example. :roll:Very juvenile and not stimulating for the grey matter at all, but then I guess that's what you get when admin want to play it so safe that anything deemed the slightest bit controversial gets deleted. All this is not helped by the many members who appear completely incapable of debating in a mature fashion. All in all, I'm pretty much exclusively sticking to my perso thread now.

Scents From Hell - The Most Beautific Perfumes
by Dolby | Perfumes & Brands
...The two fragrances from Lush that I own fit the description perfectly: and The former has a very pungent opening which is quite disgusting and it only becomes wearable with time but oh boy, one has to have a strong stomach to get there. The latter has citronella / lemongrass in it which I much prefer in Thai food than on my skin.Another one that fits the bill is with its noticeable blood / metallic accent. Finally, for the real stinker and truly satan's creation, with no redeeming feature whatsoever is I very rarely if ever had to scrub off a scent soon after application but this one is the vilest thing ever. Goodness knows how it has managed to stand the test of time.

Which masculine scents can be worn by a woman?
by Dolby | Perfumes & Brands
...We learn by association, so if we are brought up in a society where baby boys wear blue and baby girls pink then these colours automatically become associated with these genders. In the same way, as been said before, that flowery scents = feminine, and aromatic herbals = masculine.I also used to think this way before getting seriously into perfumes. Since expanding my "smell spectrum" however, it now ONLY functions along the lines or likes and dislikes, with every other nuances in between.I own and regularly wear Chanel Antaeus, CdG 2 Man, or again Encre Noire PH to name a few, so yes, my answer to the original question is that all masculines can be worn by women. This has only been reinforced by my recent (amused) discovery of the incredible popularity of a Drakkar Noir knockoff with the female population of Myanmar. To go back to babies, here's a bit of Trivia: Did you know that in the first half of the 20th C, pink was the preferred colour for boys and blue for girls? To complicate things further, from the 13th C up until the 18th C, all children were called "girls", with "knave Girl" being male and "Gay Girl" being female... so yep, all this to say: forget the labels and just follow your nose.

Less likely to buy discontinued fragrances? G-man (Eau de Cologne) - Gainsboro / Gainsborough
by Dolby | Perfumes & Brands
...I'm always a bit sad when seeing someone desperately trying to find a fragrance they had thirty years or so ago. Don't get me wrong, I get the nostalgia factor and what have you, but it always brings to mind the image of a junky dreaming of reliving their first fix ... move on I say, there's plenty of other goodies out there, and if one day you happen to stumble upon the "long lost fantasy scent", don't come complaining that it's changed because chances are, it has (or your taste has). Saying this, I would never turn down the opportunity to either test or acquire a bottle of a rare perfume. Either way, and for however long the pleasure it offers me is, it's always better than none.Barolo:Hey Sherapop...would love the link to the site you typed about. My googling came up empty. My dear Barolo, "emporia" is simply the plural of the word "emporium". This is not an online retailer per se but an all encompassing term describing the discounters, hence the reason why Google came back empty handed. What is it you said to me about "sharpest knife"?

Smell Bent 2010 - Smell Bent
by Dolby | Perfumes & Brands
...If Brent Leonesio, the creative brain and owner of Smell Bent was in the music business, he'd be the lead singer of the Scissor Sisters. No doubt about it.The whole ethos of this house seems to be encapsulated in three little letters: F.U.N.Doesn't mean the fragrances are a joke, far from it. I have quite a few (samples, oils, alcohol spray) and they are all well built creations made with quality ingredients. This is serious perfumery with a tongue firmly planted in cheek.
