Your Thoughts on the IFRA?
by LiliumLibido | Perfumes & Brands
...It's all about cold, hard cash. The IFRA owns laboratories that make synthetic perfume ingredients. In banning whichever ingredients that are not manufactured in their labs and forcing perfume creators to use IFRA owned ingredients, they insure themselves wirth huge profit for a long, long time. Of course, the only way to make that happen was to make sure that the IFRA acquired political clout in order to force perfume makers into compliance. Interestingly, I had read a very detailed article a couple of years ago about the IFRA's business practices and the reasons behind it. Stupid me, I didn't copy and save the article itself, I only saved the link to it. The article vanished from the internet several months later. I can't find it anywhere. The IFRA is in Europe what Monsanto is in the US: Nearly unlimited political clout and total sleaze. Monsanto ruins the food supply for profit, the IFRA ruins the perfume industry for profit. As for their so called concern for allergies: I have worn vintage classics with absolutely no problems for years, but I have experienced skin reactions after testing some reformulations. I cannot possibly be the only one.

...I thought I would miss it. I pop up over there, read a few threads, yawn, leave. Nope, don't miss it at all. That place is beginning to look like a ghost town.

The animalic bad girls
...You know the ones: The fragrances that are bursting with animalic ingredients and give them an embarrassing (or not... lol) overtly erotic element. They are the perfumes that many will choose to not wear in public, only at home. They can be found in just about any fragrance category, though my favorites are usually in the floral arena. Une Fleur de Cassie and vintage Diorissio parfum are on my top list, for those. What are yours?

...EvaK:Olga1780:Because of all the packages he has to dump at the back door! He doesn't even bother to ring the bell anymore.:lol:I moved out to the countryside a couple of months ago, and realized something really funny:The mailman here never knocks on the door and wait for someone to open (the doorbell isn't working, if we have one. Not sure if we do). He just walks right in and leave the packages on the dresser in the hallway :D If I hear him/her I don't even manage to get out there before he's gone. IF I hear it, often those packages just seem to have appeared in the hallway by magic. That's really cool, I would love to get my packages inside so they don't get exposed to the elements if I can't get to them right away. But if they did that in the US they'd get charged with unlawful trespassing or something like that, lol.

...I find the redundancy at Fragrantica to be nothing short of eye gauging, at this point. Maybe being sick is making me short tempered but I no longer have patience nor understanding for the combination of nonsense and politics that go on over there.

...I'll tell you an anecdote only a fellow perfume freak would appreciate:Back when I had just moved to California, I lived in an apartment with my man. One late afternoon, he texts me "I'm home, parking, I'll be right up"I had just gotten out of the shower so I didn't bother putting clothes on, it was summer, around 85 degrees or so. Knock on the door, I figured maybe he had his hands full and couldn't get his key so I opened the door wide... To find myself face to face with the UPS guy who just handed me the box with his eyes popping out of his head. I grabbed the box, slammed the door shut, then Mr. L shows up and says "I just crossed paths with the UPS guy, he was bright red with a huge smile"The good news is after that, we were on first name basis, lol.
