Is Guerlain discontinuing Shalimar Initial? Shalimar Parfum Initial - Guerlain
by NaughtyKitty | Perfumes & Brands
...Sweetgrass:Please let this not be true, I still haven't gotten around to buying my FB and I don't want to eBay hunt for it :( I have grown to love SPI.Many people on Basenotes and Fragrantica are saying that it is indeed being discontinued. Their source for this information is some "Monsieur Guerlain" who posts regarding Guerlain perfumes on Facebook. I do not use Facebook, nor do I know who this "Monsieur Guerlain" is. I am doubtful that he is actually a member of the Guerlain family, and am assuming that he's some sort of a perfume blogger, although I am uncertain and my apologies if I am incorrect. Anyways, I couldn't find any information from Guerlain's site directly, and they won't answer my emails.

...On my skin, "Patchouli Intense" by Molinard is bitter dark chocolate and patchouli, but on some people's skin it is sweet so it's worth testing to see how it turns out on you.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by NaughtyKitty | Parfumo Community
...Hi everyone! I am new here, although I have been on other perfume sites for a while. I only recently found out about Parfumo. Since October of last year, my perfume collection has grown from maybe 7 perfumes to around 100 currently, and I am always on the look out for new additions and great bargains. I collect both perfume bottles and scents, so it's not always about "loving" a specific scent to me personally. It's more about the sensory experience of perfumes. There are scents I find extremely intriguing yet not wearable, and I collect those as well. My other hobbies are riding motorcycles and my kitty cats, of course. :) So far my experience on this site has been great, everyone is very nice.

Is Guerlain discontinuing Shalimar Initial? Shalimar Parfum Initial - Guerlain
by NaughtyKitty | Perfumes & Brands
...Tessa:Maybe this is the explanation for the backorder list I was put on by Neiman Marcus . I had to wait three weeks to receive the notice that Shalimar Initial was shipped and meanwhile I received a notice that the perfume may not be available and if I wanted to wait....I waited and got it. Now I think it could be discontinued. This is so sad. :( It truly is one of my favorites. I wonder if they are discontinuing Shalimar Parfum Initial L'Eau also. I imagine so, since it's a flanker. They recently had a deal on this one at Fragrancenet where you could buy a 2 ounce bottle for $26. Of course, I snagged a bottle up but now I am wondering if I should have gotten more than one bottle.

Most beautiful flacon(s) in your collection?
by NaughtyKitty | Perfumes & Brands
...I think there are so many beautiful perfume bottles out there! Really too many out there to name them all, but I'll list some of the ones in my collection.I have a bottle of Niki de Saint Phalle EDP which looks exactly like this and it's absolutely gorgeous! My other favorites: "Shalimar Parfum Initial" "John Galliano" "Amouage Memoir" "Patchouli Intense" and I think this "celeb" scent has a surprisingly beautiful bottle: "Nicole".

Is Guerlain discontinuing Shalimar Initial? Shalimar Parfum Initial - Guerlain
by NaughtyKitty | Perfumes & Brands
...Hello everyone,I just read on another forum that Guerlain might be discontinuing one of my favorite fragrances of all time, "Shalimar Parfum Initial". I am really hoping this is not true. Does anyone here know if they are really discontinuing this? This is very tragic, since there is no other perfume out there like this one. I love the original "Shalimar" but sometimes it's just heavy for me to wear, and on those days "Shalimar Initial" is perfect. *sigh* I really hope this isn't true!

Some thoughts about cats and dogs
by NaughtyKitty | Off Topic
...Hello all! I currently have 5 cats (there are pictures of a few of them on my page). I have been a big cat lover ever since I can remember and rescued all of mine from the local shelter. I would rescue more if I could, but am currently lacking both living space and finances to afford expanding my cat family. Anyways, I really love all of my kitties. They bring joy and happiness to my life.

What new perfumes have that 'classic' potential?
by NaughtyKitty | Perfumes & Brands
modern classics?
...Ok ok, bear with me. I know that this perfume gets a bad rap for being "just a mild flanker", but.... I am going to have to say, "Shalimar Parfum Initial". It has a vintage vibe to it but still maintains much of the qualities which make it a modern scent. I love this perfume, and it is truly a modern classic in my opinion. :D

Selena Gomez sued by fragrance company Selena Gomez - Selena Gomez
by NaughtyKitty | Perfumes & Brands
...Hayven:Ha! I can't stand her. She probably got bored with the idea of her "own" perfume and moved on.I'm with you on this one. I can't stand a large majority of these "up and coming celebrities". In this day and age, you don't even need talent or hard work to be a celebrity. You just need too... well, never mind as what I want to say would be far too vulgar and inappropriate.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by NaughtyKitty | Parfumo Community
...Hayven:I am currently annoyed by how many topics are being recycled, as it has been brought up on THIS topic time and time again. Some of my replies feel like deja vu. I'm not the most technologically savvy, but it's really quite easy to look up a topic as fast as it is to post one. But I feel that people want a topic tailored especially to their needs and wants. I am guilty of that too. This is true. There have been so many times when I googled questions such as "what perfume smells like lemon drops" and Fragrantica threads popped up with suggestions. I can usually very easily google most of my questions and find Fragrantica suggestions. Of course, it's different when you are asking for suggestions which fit your personal tastes or ask something which has not been asked before. Then it is necessary to consult the forum. However, as I mentioned before, some of these "new" questions never even get answered. :(

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by NaughtyKitty | Parfumo Community
...Triffid:Hi NaughtyKitty, welcome to Parfumo. As I've mentioned above, I've not been a member of those other sites but am always gobsmacked when I read about others' experiences.Bullying is not tolerated at Parfumo, although intelligent debate is always welcome. The forums here are probably not as lively and there may not be as many participants as elsewhere, but at least the responses will be civilised!Thank you for the welcome! I don't mind the forums not being so "lively". Too much liveliness can also breed trolls who wish to feed their hunger for drama.

Re: EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
...Cryptic:NaughtyKitty:There are also ridiculous threads which keep popping up like, "what perfume should I wear to take my dog potty?" LOL! For real? I'm sorry if it seems like I'm making light of your post -- I really don't mean to -- but that's hysterical. There's no need to apologize, Cryptic. It's true! People post questions all the time asking about which perfumes to wear for the most ludicrous of occasions.

EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
by NaughtyKitty | Parfumo Community
...DarkMatter:I was on Fragrantica couple of years ago and had to stop posting due to ill health. I felt really shy about going back when I was better and so lurked for a while and planned to start posting again once I felt more confident. But then I was truly shocked by some of the prejudice and bigotry on the site. I saw a thread where a girl was basically bullied due to her sexuality. Those that came to her defence were mocked and told that they were being rude and unacceptable. I don't know what happened to it, I gave up reading it after a while and went searching for another site to make my home. I am on BN as well but I don't participate there due to it always feeling rather elitist. So I was so glad to find Parfumo! This place is so friendly and I love the way I can blog and post pictures of my collection in an album and to the individual perfume pages! This is a great site, thank you to whoever came up with the concept, I shall be remaining a while. :DHello DarkMatter,I've seen this happen a lot on Fragrantica. As I mentioned, people get offended over someone not liking their favorite perfumes and these replies get deleted, yet seriously offensive replies such as the ones you mentioned are allowed to get posted and even encouraged? What gives?

Re: EXILED! The stories from Defected Fragrantican Members
...Lola82:Give us stories of why you left Fragrantica I Prefer the juicy Sordid Details and Lured accounts and this is for Former Fragranticans ONLY! :twisted:Hi there,I am new here and left Fragrantica a day ago. I made a some great friends there and met some nice generous people, so in this regard it was a positive experience. However, the aspects of frequenting the forums and replying to the threads proved troublesome due to the negativity and unnecessary arguments which were being provoked. My reason for leaving the forums was simple: too much drama, too many trolls, and not enough serious discussion. I felt like people were being much too emotionally invested in the forum. People would get offended at the most innocent things and post aggressive personally insulting replies. I was a target of aggressive replies/PMs many times on there and paid no attention, but honestly this time I just got tired of it. I am done dealing with such immaturity, which is why I am no longer posting there. A lot of my posts got deleted for no apparent reason, and I have a hunch it's because no matter how truly benign they were, someone found them offensive. Same goes for reviews. There are haters who will disagree with your negative review of a scent and down vote you so much that your review disappears. Negative reviews can be just as helpful as positive ones, when will people understand this? There are also ridiculous threads which keep popping up like, "what perfume should I wear to take my dog potty?" yet serious threads asking interesting and important questions get ignored. I made a thread once asking the differences about the Niki de Saint Phalle EDT and EDP. The three replies I got were basically people saying they didn't know. At least they were thoughtful enough to reply! Yet ridiculous drama-starting threads get hundreds of replies.... It's childish and I am just done posting there.EDIT to add: The truly offensive replies never actually get addressed or even deleted. I don't get it!?
