What perfume have you bought recently?
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Happened to find some excellent buys this week-end. All by Rihanna: "Reb'l Fleur""Rebelle""Nude"Kim Kardashian's:"Kim Kardashian""True Reflection"Tokyo Milk's:"La Vie La Mort No. 90"andthese 3 are part of a set called #112 and have 2 vials each so you can mix and create your own scents:"Vanilla Orchid & Honeyed Cocoa No. 113""Tonka Bean & Sweet Amber No. 114""Sugared Creme & Fennel No. 115" .Tried "Design" at Macy's, liked it, but didn't like their price, so went to Marshall's and found a gift box with lotion, bath gel and an EdP for $12.99 instead of the $60 that Macy's wanted."BCBG Max Azria""Ciara"

Blind Buys - Are you a risk taker? Best + Worst Experiences
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...In the US, they're really not $10 bottles. I'd say more in the vicinity of $20 or so. And that adds up. What I meant by the cost of samples, was this. When you add up the cost of samples, and they do cost, what happens when you don't like all of them? How many do you really like? So when you really add that cost, how much do you figure you're out for? I don't buy samples, so I don't know this. To me, it seems like an awful lot of figuring out to see if I'd like the samples, which samples to buy. It's just like ordering FBs. Only buying little samples. And you buy a lot of little samples, so it seems like a lot of work. That's why I don't order samples, because it seems to me a lot of work for the money. I've gone to the sample sites trying to figure out what I might like, and I've always walked away. It seemed not worth it to me for the cost. So far I'm just not convinced yet for the prices I've seen. Maybe someone can explain to me why it's better to buy samples that I may/may not like and put money out for them?

Blind Buys - Are you a risk taker? Best + Worst Experiences
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Great forum post, Triffid. As far as the term "blind-buy addict", in a sense, I guess I'd have to call myself one, if only because whether it's because I'm ordering samples, minis or the FB's, so from step 1, they're all usually blind-buys. Where I live, getting samples is like pulling hen's teeth from the department stores. The department stores don't carry anything I'd want anyway. So I don't shop there. There aren't any stores that carry perfumes I'd like, so it's buying online, which turns into "blind-buying". If I'm lucky enough to find something locally, it would be at TJMaxx or one of those type of stores, and you can't open the box.I do read the notes and reviews first tho. I would never buy a perfume on the recommendation of an SA I didn't know. I have to read about it myself and go with my gut feeling. The majority of the time it's been ok, with three purchases I didn't like. Two of those had glowing reviews, notes I swore I would love, and when I wear the perfume, I just can't pull out of it what others do. I'm so disappointed. My worst one was "Hot Couture No. 1" which others say is a smoky, spicy, raspberry frag. On me, it's a linear cooked raspberry. So disappointed am I.My happiest so far has been Nicole Miller. I adore this fragrance. Best money I spent blind-folded. But when I think about, even paying for samples is blind-buying. I'm still putting out money for something I have no idea what it smells like. As far as the sanity marker in price? For a blind-buy? That's relevant to the market, isn't it?

Is it time to stock up?
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Hard decision isn't it? Having so many different, I know I'll never truly be "out" of perfumes, but I think ahead to what sellers will do to the pricing of my favorite perfumes, my few so-called "signatures". I think I'll purchase just those now. Just one of each, and it's only a handful.

...When I read reviews looking for information about a perfume, I'm looking for both negative and positive information. People shouldn't hesitate to write the negatives. That's what others need to know. But, tell us what is negative in terms of how a perfume affects you, not just saying it isn't any good with simpleton's words. That's what happens over at another site. That's what I like about Parfumo. When I read the reviews here, I don't scroll through them. I read them. We have quality reviews.I also like imagery, it helps me to place a perfume. If I'm not familiar with a vintage that has a myriad of notes, but I know that I will like it, it does make it seem more exciting when reviewers paint a picture of that perfume.

Whose Oud is missing?
by Sorceress | Perfumes & Brands
...Recently I picked up "Les Notes de Lanvin - Oud & Rose" locally. I have absolutely no idea what "oud" is supposed to smell like, other than what I have read, nor have I ever owned an perfume with oud as a note listed. I have been hesitant to purchase any, since there are varying opinions, costs, etc., and not knowing if I would like it. But when I saw this one sitting on the shelf at (dare I say it?) my local Marshall's for a ridiculous price I bought it. What I get from it is a sense of being in a garage, an oil feel, as if I'm standing next to a mechanic who's been working all day under cars. I feel as if I should wear this hanging out with my biker friends. It's not overpowering, it's well-blended.Since this the posters here seem to significantly know of "oud" scents, has anyone else smelled this particular one? And is this what "oud" smells like?

Best TV Shows (past & present)..
by Sorceress | Off Topic
...Is anyone following The Following with Kevin Bacon on Fox? It's on its second season and he plays a retired FBI agent after a serial killer that has a cult. The serial killer, of course, wants him, too. I liked the first season, season 2 I'm not so sure about. It's not as fast and spectacular as the first season was, I think.

...A friend told me about this online free movie site. It's called yify.tv. You can watch movies directly on your computer, stream them to your tv if you have the wires. You don't have to download anything. The site has current releases, plus old and in-between. Easy to navigate bit-torrent site. With the cost of a DVD, or going to the theater nowadays, this is right up my alley. "free"......lol

...I enjoy reading reviews, negative and positive. When I read reviews about my favorite perfumes, I find them especially interesting to see how others interpret the fragrance for themselves. Sometimes I may not be able to put a finger on a note, but someone else nails it precisely and makes me investigate a perfume more intensely.
