What's up with Chanel?
by Oriane | Perfumes & Brands
...PBullFriend:Ooh. That makes me think of a lawsuit/crackdown sort of thing. Maybe just one vaguely hinted at, though. When Bond No 9 threatened to sue everyone and her brother, all of the sample places pulled it immediately without putting it on sale. I know Chanel has a huge legal department because they are among the most counterfeited companies in the world. Maybe they had some spare time & decided to go after the decant folks, too. That's truly unfortunate, because a LOT of people won't get to try some of the lesser-known Chanel stuff now - the expensive stuff that TPC and StC were selling by the half-milliliter. :(This is exactly what happened. The next big development for Chanel will be the Les Exclusifs reformulations. They will stop making the EdTs in September 2016. In future the Exclusifs will only be made in EdP formulation with newly incorporated IFRA regulations. Prices probably will increase by a good bit. I cannot decide if it is better to purchase some of the EdTs now or to wait and see what the future will bring.

Chanel's Les Exclusifs reformulation
by Oriane | Perfumes & Brands
...I think most people know by now that Chanel plans to stop production of their Les Exclusifs EdTs in September 2016 and reformulate them to EdPs. All of the ramifications of this are unclear to me, but I am considering whether or not I should acquire either 31 Rue Cambon, No. 22, and/or Coromandel before they are reformulated. What do you think? Are any of you planning to purchase any of the current formulations before Chanel stops producing them? Do you think the planned EdPs will be better or worse than the current EdTs? What do you think will be the price increase for the EdPs? Will it be worth it to wait for the EdPs and pay higher prices?

Noses to B&BW fragrances?
by Oriane | Perfumes & Brands
...Thank you, PBullFriend. I did not see any of that information on their website. They have several body sprays that I really love. I think they should credit on their website the noses behind each fragrance because creating a fragrance really is an art. Thanks again. :)

Blind Buys - Are you a risk taker? Best + Worst Experiences
by Oriane | Perfumes & Brands
...The vast majority of my collection was purchased blindly. I had smelt probably only five or so of my fragrances before I purchased them. I rely on the notes pyramids, reviews, and a knowledge of what I have and love. I know, for example, that I favour Orientals/Florientals, so these are the ones I look at adding to my collection. My worst blind purchase was undoubtedly Jessica Simpson Fancy. Judging from the notes and the mostly very positive reviews, I expected to love it. However it turned out to be extremely synthetic smelling, so I did not keep it. The candidates for best blind buy are numerous and diverse, including L'Heure Bleue, Coco, 24 Faubourg, Bois des Iles, Elie Saab Le Parfum Intense, Cuir de Russie, No. 22, and Sensual Amber amongst others.I have never really thought about a price ceiling for a fragrance purchased blindly, but most recently I purchased a vintage Cuir de Russie for a few hundred dollars, and I purchased a contemporary Bois de Iles for close to a couple of hundred dollars. My next planned blindly purchased fragrances are Coromandel and 31 Rue Cambon.

The hobby of collecting
by Oriane | Off Topic
...I love unusual, beautiful decorative antiques especially Victorian and Aesthetic period pieces. I also love Chinoiserie pieces. I do not have a large collection of these items, but I love the pieces I do have, and I am always interested in finding something special to add to my decor.I have a huge collection of books. I think I have roughly 1,100 titles, but I do not consider them to be a "collection" per se. I think of them as my library. I donated 400 titles to the public library a few years ago, but I want to downsize the number I keep to less than 400, so I have a long way to go. I find it difficult to let go of books; they are like old friends.I used to collect memorabilia from two of my favourite old telly programmes, "I Love Lucy" and "Dark Shadows." My collections are fairly advanced, and I have not added anything to them in several years. I really should sell off these collections because I have no where to display them. They remain packed away in boxes. I only began collecting perfumes about three or four years ago, but at the time, I did not realise I was starting a "collection," and it was not my express intention to do so. I had no idea I would soon end up with well over sixty bottles! These days, aside from perfumes, I mainly collect dust.

Noses to B&BW fragrances?
by Oriane | Perfumes & Brands
...I cannot recall where I read it, but I read somewhere that B&BW employs top noses to create their fragrances. However, I have never seen any nose credited for anything they make except perhaps Warm Vanilla Sugar. Can you match up any noses to B&BW fragrances? Thanks. (I hope this is the correct forum to post this question.) :)

Once in a Blue Moon
by Oriane | Off Topic
...Shared with me by a dear friend....---------------------------------------------------On the 31st of July, this beautiful time-lapse rise of the Full Blue Moon was captured 2 ½ miles away from Cape Byron Lighthouse, on Belongil Beach, Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. The head land and lighthouse at Byron Bay is the most easterly point of the Australian Mainland and therefor is the first place in Australia to watch the full moon rise. This video is made up of 1038 frames and slowed down to as close to real time as possible. The photographer has been working on perfecting this type of time lapse for over a year now after seeing the work of his favourite photographer Mark Gee.Do not forget to breathe watching this majestic time-lapse; everything about it is just perfect, and it's a photography clinic for anyone interested in taking time-lapse. See this stunning moon-rise and appreciate just how beautiful God's work can be.► Probably The Most Beautiful Moon rise Time-Lapse You'll Ever Seehttps://player.vimeo.com/video/137218768

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by Oriane | Parfumo Community
...ScentFan:Hi Oriane and welcome. I like your reviews. Just bought the last 1 oz Black Amethyst perfume on Amazon. Can't wait to smell it.Hello, ScentFan. Thank you very much. I am glad someone has found the reviews helpful. I hope you enjoy your Black Amethyst! B&BW is having a semi annual sale right now, too, so if you like the EdT, you might want to try the body spray, shower gel, etc. All are on for really good prices at the moment, and their website is very easy to navigate. :D

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by Oriane | Parfumo Community
Greetings to All!
...Warmest greetings to all! I am quite new to parfumo. I stumbled upon the site a few days ago and immediately registered. I very much like the site and am always interested to read what others have to say about the many, many fragrances available today.Fragrance has become something of a hobby for me these last few years. I have always loved fragrance, but I was only able to wear a very few fragrances whence I was young because most fragrances made me feel quite ill. Now, however, I have found that I can wear many different fragrances without any problems (thanks to IFRA restrictions??), and my collection has grown to more then sixty bottles, which is far more than I ever dreamt I would own and far more than I could possibly use up in what is left of my lifetime, but I enjoy them all very much. My tastes have gravitated toward mainstream fragrances thus far, and my preference is for Orientals-Florientals, but I have a good variety of fragrances in my wardrobe including florals and chypres. I have very little experience of "niche" fragrances, although my favourite house bar none is Guerlain, which is considered "niche." I also like Chanel, Dior, and Piguet. I admit I was a fragrance snob whence I first began collecting a few years ago, but since then, thanks to the communities on Fragrantica and Basenotes, I have learnt that there are a lot of wonderful, inexpensive fragrances out there, including some celebrity fragrances, and my collection has broadened accordingly. Also, I have learnt that fragrances lovers as a whole are kind and generous people. I am grateful to everyone who has helped me along in my journey to discover and fall in love with new fragrances.I look forward to spending more time here and getting to know you. Best wishes,Oriane
