Less likely to buy discontinued fragrances? G-man (Eau de Cologne) - Gainsboro / Gainsborough
by Barolo | Perfumes & Brands
...Hey Apicius...it's becoming quite evident that we need a "no smiley" smiley. No smiley.Dannyboy:Dolby:... I would never turn down the opportunity to either test or acquire a bottle of a rare perfume. Either way, and for however long the pleasure it offers me is, it's always better than none.+1, no smiley

Less likely to buy discontinued fragrances? G-man (Eau de Cologne) - Gainsboro / Gainsborough
by Barolo | Perfumes & Brands
...I'd say she's more like an ex-wife after a very contentious divorce. No smiley. Yeah, Dolby is someone I consider a friend from fragrantica. I'm sorry you might be stuck with her. Although, the divorce was messy, I was able to get out...you all won't be so lucky. No smiley and I'm not even tempted this time. Sherapop:It's so nice to see a bit of feisty sparring around these parts. You two are old friends, I gather, Barolo and Dolby?

...You're always annoyed so I figured smileys would have no further impact upon your current level of annoyance. I was tempted to put a smiley back there, but I'll be a good boy. I say leave the vintage fragrances and smileys alone. Dolby:Barolo:...I just wanna spoon. :) ... I can think of. :) Soon, YOU will be in timeout. :DErm ... and what bit about "using emoticons sparingly so as not to annoy others do you not understand" :?:

...Thank you, Dolby... Yes, indeed, Thank you. No knife, here... but...you know I just wanna spoon. :)I do appreciate you clearing that up for me. I can stop entering it into every search engine I can think of. :)BTW: Nice to see you honoring the rules around here. Breakin' them from the get go...importing a fragrantica smiley into the parfumo chat board. Soon, you will be in timeout. :D

...Lola82:Fragrantica/Basenotes/Parfumoare all Unique their own wayI agree... all are unique...Basenotes is hardly ever online. Somehow, it would be nice if parfumo.com could capitalize on Basenotes being down. Sadly, I think due to visibility most BN folks are headed over to Fragrantica. It was an accident I found this site...I was trying to find an alternative to fragrantica and I saw a mention at the bottom of a youtube review that this site existed.Parfumo. net...needs to come up in search engines like BN and fragrantica do. I've invited a handful of people over and I hope they all show.

Good movies you have recently watched

...I really enjoyed, THE MUSIC NEVER STOPPED, based on a true story of a young man who left home and his parents didn't hear from him for 20 years. His parents find him in a hospital in dire straits. I thought it was a beautiful piece of work.As a big Steve Zahn fan... I really liked, CALVIN MARSHALL, on Netflix Streaming. An indie flick I thought was really well done was, TARGET PRACTICE on Netflix Streaming.THE DESCENDANTS with George Clooney was a tough watch...felt terrible for Clooney's character, but was a good piece of work.

Less likely to buy discontinued fragrances? G-man (Eau de Cologne) - Gainsboro / Gainsborough
by Barolo | Perfumes & Brands
...Hey Sherapop...would love the link to the site you typed about. My googling came up empty. As I said, above, I know lots of discontinued fragrances are still easy to find, but some aren't, and I wondered if that dissuaded some from buying them in the first place. I certainly don't want to get my hands on something I think is the greatest thing I ever smelled and then find I can't get my hands on it, again. Sherapop:Barolo, lots of discontinued fragrances can be found at discount emporia, often at reasonable if not low prices. Others are sold at astronomical prices by e-bay hawks. But the important point is: many are still available...

Less likely to buy discontinued fragrances? G-man (Eau de Cologne) - Gainsboro / Gainsborough
by Barolo | Perfumes & Brands
...As I peruse the database, here, I find new and interesting fragrances that I'd love trying. Sadly, some of these fragrances that sound so appealing are no longer in production, and it makes me far less inclined to try them. I don't want to find myself loving something that isn't readily available.IE: I saw a scent from Gainsboro, last night, and I went out to research it as it had 3 100% ratings and some notes I thought sounded appealing. Gainsboro Excpetion is out of production and I feel like it's better to not smell it, at all, then to smell it and not be able to get it later on. I do realize some out of production scents are relatively still easy to find but a lot of them aren't. Do out of production fragrances dissuade you from testing?

...My eyes...my eyes!! :)Hey, my EDIT disappeared, or didn't take. (zoka, was that you?) :)I'm sure overall traffic has much to do with the feel element. This has more of a country laid back feel, which I actually really prefer vs. the other site's urban go go go feel. Heading over to check out the assistant, now. EDIT: I guess I'll have to review some things for it to come in handy for me. I'm finding it hard to re-review things I've previously reviewed. I'll start reviewing the new things I get in...I have 18 samples enroute as well as a full bottle. I'll be anxious to see what the assistant does after I get up to speed, here.Apicius:Barolo, thank's a lot for feedback! Here is some eye candy for you:http://www.parfumo.com/Discover/ColorsAnd check out the statistical features of the Assistant --> Perfume Consultant!

Re: Newbie impression
...Please, that was not a criticism as much as it was an honest observation. Fragrantica has a very slick looking website. It has the appearance of an ESPN.com. So, yes, I guess I'm referring to the design. It's sensory overload over there, and this site suits me just fine. I spent a lot of hours over there researching things so any change is going to be a shock to my system. This site seems somewhere between Fragrantica and Basenotes presentation/design wise. I think Basenotes is incredibly minimalistic and this site is a couple of notches above it but more on the minimalistic side of things which isn't a bad thing opposed to slickness. No site has more features than this one. Heck, I just found out I had a wall a little while ago. Every few seconds, I'm figuring out something new about this site and things it does that others don't. I'm expecting it to make dinner for me here in a couple of hours. :)The newbie isn't here trashing this site. It's great. I've thrown some tough queries at the database and it's come back strong save for two items. I'm sure that will expand as the site does. Ultimately, the best way to put it is...fragrantica is like a model home chocked full of nice furniture giving it that homey feel that is so inviting. This site has more of an Ikea feel to it...a less is more approach. It's just different. I can understand why someone commented this site is "colder" than fragrantica and that has absolutely nothing to do with the people at either place. It's just an overall feel. I love this place or I wouldn't have created an account. I have one at Basenotes but have never posted...I just used it to receive feedback for some swaps I was involved in but didn't feel like staying. Apicius:Barolo:I just became aware of this site less than an hour ago. My initial thoughts were... this is already better than basenotes, but lacks the presentation of Fragrantica. However, I've found the overall features user friendly and useful.Hello once again, Barolo! We are very interested in the users criticism, so, could you please drop a few words about what you mean by Parfumo lacks the presentation of Fragrantica. Do you mean their design?Personally, I think, some of Parfumo's pros is that this site has a clean design without ads, and that it focusses on the user's content. Please feel free to tell us what you think is better at Fragrantica's presentation! And don't worry - we want free speech. The Parfumo mods will only intervene if some people should ever become disrespectful towards each other or need some help to clarify misunderstandings.

Say hello and/or introduce yourself (if you like)
by Barolo | Parfumo Community
...Hello. My name is Barolo. :) I'm a recovering fragrantican who doesn't believe basenotes provides the proper therapeutic environment for my fragrance neuroses. I live in the United States and have a new found interest in the world of fragrance, but I wish it would just go away! As for further details, you'll have to try a little harder and did a little deeper to get anything more out of me. Oh, I will tell you, I'm a white male age 18-65 married with kids. Now, you know me intimately. :!: :!:Curious to see where this site goes...much, much promise. Kudos to the owners/developers.

Newbie impression
...I just became aware of this site less than an hour ago. My initial thoughts were... this is already better than basenotes, but lacks the presentation of Fragrantica. However, I've found the overall features user friendly and useful. Fragrantica tended toward a more female audience and basenotes more male. From what I can gather this one seems to be right down the middle which I prefer. As to topics on fragrantica...I found the "panty dropper" topics inane but I'm all for lighthearted and fun stuff. Perfume or parfumo if you will is all about self expression and perfume without personality won't get it done for me. Curious to watch this site grow. I know there are disillusioned members at fragrantica. Heck, that's why I'm here... I posted a topic about if anyone had ever considered quitting fragrantica and zoka deleted it pretty much immediately, although he did PM to inform me why, and that sent me looking for greener pastures. I understand that it's a privilege to be part of any online community, but when big brother flexes his muscles too much unnecessarily I can't stick around. My topic was completely respectful and seeking in nature but it got deleted nonetheless.I should be thankful, had it not been for that, I wouldn't be here.
