Soothing Lavender Perfume (Soapy or Refined)
...+1 for the Caron (or one of its flankers like the Impact). Also strong lavender focus yet very affordable: "Caldey Island Lavender".User Yatagan collected lavender scents that he liked and that are still produced. Probably the list is too long, I think few curated tips probably do better for you. But if you're the explorative type, check it out:https://www.parfumo.com/Users/Yatagan/Collection/Cust1

Sniff Fest - 100BON
by Fluxit | Perfumes & Brands
...Thanks for sharing all these impressions! Happy to see that our blog post has an impact :)I wasn't as impressed as you with this brand. But for all-naturals, they are very affordable and have a broad range of scents. I'm definitely still interested in other peoples' opinions about all-naturals and am happy to give recommendations (rather via PN as I rarely visit the English forum).

Oud ~ in search of the real deal
...The brand top2base has my trust here. On their website you find various Ouds, both in perfume and pure in ethyl alcohol solutions. I've tried some, including the Cambodian Oud in 12% concentration. Very aromatic, I'm a fan. But also quite intense, some parfumo members found it overwhelming when I brought it to a meeting. Which is fair enough, as it wasn't blended into a perfume fragrance, but I like that it still comes with a surprisingly broad profile. The owner also is very friendly. We one ordered to share a bottle and she even included pipettes & co to facilitate the distribution.

To downsize or not to....
by Fluxit | Perfumes & Brands
...Questions I ask myself when I consider amassing items:#Do I collect rationally or for collecting's sake? For perfume that would mean: If I collect flacons, getting a 100th may be great. If I collect in order to use it, I look at total volume of my collection and what that would means in duration of usage. I personally collect perfume for usage, so I get all bottles used or just a sharing. Downsizing doesn't mean that you have to lose the fragrance completely. Just decant some and give the flacon away. 5-10ml decants are compact to store and not painful to later discard / give away when you realize that you still don't use it at all.#Does the ownership please me or the purchase? If ownership, I'm cool with it. If purchase, I try to stop it asap (e.g. by delaying purchases for a month to reduce spontaneous buys that have little purpose other than satisfying a mood).#Does it please me at all? That might be stupid question for a hobby. But too much of anything is a burden. If I had 50 flacons at home, I'd not enjoy my place anymore. A dozen is fine. "When is too much" is a question that sometimes pops up in the German forum in blogs and you probably aren't surprised to hear that everyone else has a different opinion. Does your collection give you joy? That's what counts.I'm a fairly cautious flacon buyer, so I don't have to deal with the too much topic too much ;) If it's few bottles, I'd give them away. If I had a lot, I'd sell them, way underpriced bundle in order to speed up the process.

Difference in the English and German version
by Fluxit | Parfumo Community
...Parfummaniac:I wish that Parfumo would break down 'the wall', by not have to log in on the German version, the English version and the Dutch Version when you want to read something or post. By going to a button on the top [...] and click the language you prefer. There is a button on the top right, below your username :) No need to log in separately. It also serves as a quick switch on the page of each fragrance when you want to check out the reviews of another language.

Difference in the English and German version
by Fluxit | Parfumo Community
...I see three factors:1. Local geographical community: Members in Germany actually meet up because it's easy. That both creates and strengthens social bonds.2. Same country shipments: German members trade a lot because shipping is cheap within Germany. If you look internationally, that's possibly more expensive and therefore requires more effort. Same for the passaround packages that I love. Country filter could help.3. Strong forum individuals: 20 active members can create 80% of the forum buzz. But you need the active mass once, otherwise it won't carry on.

Sniff Fest - NadiaZ

...Thanks for the suggestion, I know them, too :) If you want it more specific, just have a look at my Tested-collection. OO is definitely interesting, I find their Chocolates (Seattle / California) really enjoyable and somewhat comparable to Slumberhouse's Ore both in scent and quality. However, they aren't all natural. Quote from their website:All Olympic Orchids fragrances are handcrafted from pure essential oils, absolutes, extracts, high-end synthetic fragrance molecules, tinctures of natural materials, or some combination thereof in a carrier of perfumer’s alcohol. All are parfum (extrait) concentration, varying from 20-30% fragrance concentrate to optimize performance, so they have excellent longevity. When natural oakmoss is used it is the IFRA-compliant low-atranol type. To the best of our knowledge, Olympic Orchids fragrances never contain phthalates, artificial colors, or artificial preservatives, and they are not tested on animals. With the exception of a few that contain natural ambergris or Africa stone, they would be considered vegan. Some fragrances in this line are 100% free of synthetic musks. Some are 100% natural. It's a bit tricky. To make it more difficult, even all natural doesn't necessarily mean good for you. And especially in the US, the laws are less strict to ensure that (according to Annette Neuffer, a well-known German natural perfumer, I personally don't know the laws in detail). If you're interested in the all-natural brands that we're currently testing, have a look at my blog (on the German site). Language doesn't really matter for the list of brands after all :)\\ EditTo add to my previous post: Opus I from NadiaZ turned out to be a great scent for my nose. Just to balance my critique so far with this compliment for fairness.

...Matter of fact, I recently tested ca. 20 of D.S. & Durga's and then started a passaround package on the German forum part, which is running as we speak :) My favs are "Italian Citrus" and "Foxglove", for which I got ca. 3-5ml decants from parfumo members already. "Sir" is astounding as well but I already have something comparable. However, their brand doesn't qualify as all-natural. Sorry for being unclear. I didn't mean natural smelling, but actually being without chemicals.Hiram I'm aware of but haven't tested. Bogue is new to me, looks intriguing. Thanks for these recommendations! As a sidenote, I coincidentally got the chance to test several NadiaZ, I have the passaround package on my desk right now. Eccentric and interesting - they remind me of Soivohle - but so far nothing that sparks any wish for a purchase. Which clearly is out of question anyway.

Decant vs. Sample
by Fluxit | Perfumes & Brands
...Silvia1993:Decants, never, have the same smell as that of the original fragrance. That's worded quite strictly. In theory, you are right:a) Oxygen changes a scent over time. However, that's true for any opened flacon, as each pump gets air into the body. Especially if decanted with a syringe, there is not much of a difference.b) Smaller volumes of perfume change faster than bigger ones. However, a decant of e.g. 10ml won't be much different from bigger flacons over significant amount of time, especially if stored appropriately (rather dark glass than those white sprayer which also aren't completely tight) .I have decants for years and cannot detect any difference in scent. Of course, it might be my nose ;) But I'm convinced enough to blind-test that with someone else.As for the naming sample vs decants, we had the same discussion in the German forum. It turned out that there are two opinions, which we couldn't really unify.1) Sample = Original, decant = coming from the flacon (could be from a personal one or as a service in a perfume store)2) Sample = small size, decant = same as above, but usually 5ml+I personally prefer version 2, as I find that both in German and English language, it's more intuitive (sample = I want to try, no matter if it comes from my friend or the vendor).

...Thanks for sharing your experience with us, ScentFan :) You may want to put them on to the individual scent pages as statement / comment as well, so they get preserved there and can guide curious noses in the future. Not many can pay these prices, so without envy I can say that your feedback is even more valuable. For me personally, NadiaZ's fragrances prices are way off the root, I don't want to afford them. Natural ingredients are way more expensive for certain, I understand that. But there are other natural perfume creators (e.g. Neuffer) who prove that you can produce small batches of fascinating scents without charging beyond-Roya prices. Of course, NadiaZ's approach is a different one with her somewhat-bespoke "it's all custom for you", which is fair enough. For me, though? I'd be much happier with less consultation and fragrances that don't have a rate of 20$+ / ml. At that rate, I can't even rate scents anymore because my brain goes "it's so expensive, it must be good, no?" ;) And, a bit of a personal gripe: With so many synthetic chemistry on the market, every natural perfumer who goes this superluxuary route is slightly saddening for me. I'd love to see more cool natural fragrances available for the crowd to overcome the toxic mass market. If you know some that you can recommend, I'm all ears (maybe per pn to not derail this thread that's rightfully devoted to NadiaZ).Anyway, nice impressions, ScentFan, cheers.
