...Thanks for that information, Guapo. I have a couple of the cans now, and at 125ml they should last me a while, but it's good to know there's no appreciable difference with the newer version. I may even lift the user ban on Mr Triffid, whose style is to borrow my perfumes and spray lavishly and often when he finds something to his liking.

What makes a perfume more suitable for young people?

...I echo what Dulcemio said, Jumbotron; serious perfume lovers tend to eschew age and gender marketing in favour of what floats their personal boat. However, as your question relates to actual votes by members here on Parfumo, I'm guessing Cool Water has garnered 30% of the 'young' wedge of pie because that style of aquatic/calone heavy fragrance came into being in the 90s, which is relatively recent in perfume terms. The logic, therefore, is that you are more likely to smell this 'modern' style on someone born since it's creation as people tend to identify with perfumes from their own era. I don't necessarily agree but that's my theory. Incidentally, 30% young, and 16% old, leaves 54% ...(middling age perhaps?). If you like it wear it, I say! Worth noting that it's fun to play against type and wear the unexpected.

..."Geranium Bourbon" from MH is one of my favourite perfumes, a must-try if you enjoy lush rose and geranium, but it's the only one I've tried from this house (yes, it was a blind buy). Performance-wise, it has nice projection and longevity in the "acceptable" range. Not a great deal of development but I'm so smitten with the scent that I tend to forgive any shortcomings. I've been tempted to blind buy others, especially "Fleur du Matin" and "Terre de Bois", especially as I can buy them online in my own country for less than half retail price, but mixed reviews on performance have given me pause. On the plus side, the bottles are gorgeous and, like the Lutens bottles, come with the option to use as a spray or splash, very handy for decanting.

...I see the kilt appeal in that ad, Cryptic (ankle socks notwithstanding) but I think most of those blokes would look good in anything! Greysolon, I was thinking about kilts but searched fruitlessly for Scots or Scottish. Ended up pursuing headless horsemen instead.

...Flanker madness! Even the flankers have flankers! Are there people out there who collect these as sets? I don't think I own a single flanker of anything except a couple of GWP minis and Joy/eau de Joy which seem to be different releases of the same perfume. I think Greysolon should have the next turn as he outed so many offenders. Unless shy I-don't-do-clues-Cincy would like a turn? Actually, it's Cryptic's call anyway.

...Spot on, Cryptic. Poor old Porthos! I was watching a re-run of Slumdog Millionaire the other night and was reminded of the last question he is asked "Who is the third Musketeer?" to which he correctly guesses Aramis. I'm ashamed to say that I never read the books and had no idea that Aramis was not just a classic men's fragrance.
