Exclusivity outside of price tag

Perfume Discussions
... Im curious about perfume brands that do exclusive releases and 'feel' rarer. I know insane price tags for some perfumes can work for established fragrance houses but Im looking for examples outside of that. Like Le Labo does city-specific fragrances you can only get in those stores in the city. Are there other examples like this or houses that almost only do limited-release collections/bottles?

Do textured glass bottles seem out of style or outdated?

... This type of glass bottle seems less common. Just wondering if anyone else feels like fluted glass bottles (think whiskey glasses) or or the patterned type glass bottles feel antiquated to you? I assume its less common because it's more expensive but I get the feeling fragrance houses that want to come across as more modern are ditching this bottle type.

... SixAmbregris Kilian has released several bottles re-decorated by artist Sophie Matisse: "Straight to Heaven – Splash of Lemon Sophie Matisse Art Edition | Kilian", "Good Girl Gone Bad - Splash of Neroli Sophie Matisse Art Edition | Kilian" or "Bamboo Harmony Sophie Matisse Art Edition | Kilian". But the Cherry Blossom is not the only one, Guerlain is regularly doing these incredibly ornate bottles in LE, like their yearly Muguet release and quite a number of others - the "Pièces d'exception" page on their website shows half a dozen of them and they do look like someone's spent a month on one bottle! Incredible, thanks for sharing this!

... Smirky I don't know if I'd call it standout but, "Sauvage Elixir | Dior" in the SAUVAGE BY THE HOUSE OF BACCARAT version, $8200. Interesting, thanks!

... For Guerlains Cherry Blossom Millésime, they partnered with French jeweller Philippe Ferrandis for the packaging design. The bottle looks AMAZING. Does anyone know of any other examples of fragrance houses doing limited edition bottles? I think the idea of it is so cool.

Discussion on perfume trends and what lies underneath trends

Perfumes & Brands
... I often hear from people speaking at fragrance events and online on perfume trends and I can't understand it if either they are way off or I am. This is more of a rebuke to what I often hear but I would love others opinions on this. So I normally hear people talk about trends in perfume in terms of notes. Vanilla as the center stage note is getting big....or Cherry notes are now trending, or softer citrus notes etc.. To me it seems like the only time a note starts a trend in the industry is when industry defining fragrances hit the market like Aventus and pineapple note becomes big. Another example is middle eastern fragrance houses bringing the Oud note to the larger market. Otherwise, to me it seems like the only thing that trends are actual fragrance houses. The rise of Jo Malone, or Frederic Malle. Tom Ford as whole starts trending, not so much specific notes in a release from Tom Ford. Maybe a specific note is what drives the upward trend of an entire fragrance house. I realize this forum is biased in that many here can recognize individual notes but the average consumer has no idea what a Gourmand is and likely can only pick out very distinct and common notes. Am I just way off here? I'm not sure how to conceptualize this but going off what I hear and see, it seems like fragrance house are what trend rather than notes/accords

How do you recognise the smell of musk?

... Equilton To me, musk is simply put, clean, soft, smooth and slightly animalic depending on what type of musk you're getting I don't get clean at all. In fact for me, it seems to be the opposite of clean. It literally mimics male animal sweat glands

How do you recognise the smell of musk?

... musk smells primal and I think it is the most versatile masculine note meaning, you can do so much with it based on how its blended and the other notes. With that being said, I also think it is one of the only unisex notes. I just cant imagine any womens fragrance succesfully blending musk. It might exist but I never smelled it. Kind of went on a tangent. In terms of Id'ing it, it is heavy animaltic, sour, and always stands out in the opening notes and becomes subdied in drydown from my experience

... How do you link a perfume in a post on this forum? I see other people link bottles and a little thumbnail image appears. How do I do this?

Perfumes for bedtime wear?

... The drydown of Prada black is very soothing. I think the only contraindication for a bedtime fragrance is it can be cloying in the slightest bit. It would be a constant background stimulation that you don't need when trying to sleep
