Something that evokes sad for me: "When the Rain Stops | Maison Margiela" or "Encre Noire (Eau de Toilette) | Lalique" Something to make you stay wide awake and think "did he just tilt every ingredient he had in arms reach in one perfume" and hope for the best: "Enigma pour Homme / Creation-E pour Homme (Parfum) | Roja Parfums" Something to warm you up: "Oajan | Parfums de Marly" Something to wish the sun would shine again, bring back the damn summer and dispel the cold: "Light Blue pour Homme Eau Intense | Dolce & Gabbana" Something to contemplate the current state of the world that makes you cry because of one person: "Fight Fight Fight for Men | Donald Trump" Pick your "Poison (Eau de Toilette) | Dior" Also, on a serious note, take care. Whatever you are going through, speak up and open up about it to those you care about.

... For lime/mint I'm particularly fond of "Pacific Lime | Atelier Cologne" and "Platine Blanc | French Avenue" , although they're not the strongest fragrances. Concerning Platine Blanc, "Torino21 | Xerjoff" and "Hawas Verde | Rasasi" can be substituted with it. I believe Platine is actually an inspired version of Torino. For orris/cacao I don't really know a lot that have both apart from "Gentleman Givenchy (Eau de Parfum Boisée) | Givenchy", but I like it very much.

... The ones that immediately come to mind for me would be: - Citrus and Sandalwood - Lime and Mint - Vanilla and Rum - Orris and Cacao And then there is Civet + Anything or Saffron + Anything which I would happily skip . Civet and Saffron together would be a vision of hell for me.

Why is that fragrance so popular?

... I don't get the popularity of some fragrances in the top 3's. Not just here, but on most perfume communities. I'm not saving they are bad, I bought them after sampling and I like them, but why "Naxos | Xerjoff" , "Imagination | Louis Vuitton" and "Dior Homme Intense (2011) | Dior" are so highly rated puzzles me. They're good, but I can think of a whole lot of fragrances I would trade their position in the chart with. Of these, I find "Dior Homme Intense (2011) | Dior" the most overrated fragrance. Good? Yes. Masterpiece? No, far from.

What do you think of Zara, Dua, et al?

... I've tried some Dua's but there is always something in the base that absolutely stinks, some compound or ingredient (or carrier to improve the durability?). I absolutely love "A Vanilla Affair | The Dua Brand" and "Drowning in Ottoman's Zest | The Dua Brand" , but I tried some that really smelled inspired by (something) and were "oh nice" but went "OH GOD" in the drydown. I won't buy from them again. Tried 1 Zara fragrance, "Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes (Eau de Parfum) | Zara" , I like it and for the price it is pretty good. And I see the resemblance to "Imagination | Louis Vuitton" , but there are better dupes. I don't have an opinion on Zara, the one I mentioned is the only one I tried.

Is there any way to REDUCE the longevity of a fragrance?

... R-r-reducing longevity? Heresy! You could rub the parfume after applying, it will reduce longevity as it evaporates faster. And something about breaking down of molecules. Or shake the bottle a lot. But still: HERESY!
