What are your favourite discontinued/rare scents?

... The only two discontinued fragrances I truly miss would be: - "A*Men Ultra Zest | Mugler" : The only Mugler I actually like with that burst of Blood Orange in that A*Men DNA you could wear all year round. I have not found a dupe (or clone) that comes near it. "Ultrared Man | Rabanne" does somewhat tap out of the same vein and fill the void to some extent, but it is not the same. - "La Nuit de L'Homme Bleu Électrique | Yves Saint Laurent" came with a flash and went out like a thief in the night. I thought it was well received but was discontinued pretty fast. I'm glad I stocked up on it, but still: why this was taken out of production still vexes me.

Trying to expand my office fragrances

... I second Ringtale's notion of "Infusion d'Iris (Eau de Parfum) (2015) | Prada" , that is a good scent for the office, and not a common one either. Next to that one, my two cents would be: "Beau de Jour (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford" and "Gentleman Givenchy (Eau de Toilette Intense) | Givenchy" for the office. The latter is professional enough and does not have that soapiness, that is usually associated with "office friendly". You could also go for "Grey Vetiver Parfum | Tom Ford" if Vetiver is your thing. (Deemed a good scent for a professional setting, I personally loathe it, too mature for me)

... "Gentleman Givenchy (Eau de Parfum) | Givenchy" in fall and winter "Greenley | Parfums de Marly" and "K (Eau de Parfum) | Dolce & Gabbana" in spring and summer Basically the three I like wearing the most during these seasons and the ones people recognize me by.

... Clubbing night, testing "Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Extradose | Valentino". I never really gave Valentino a chance after being let down by "Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Yellow Dream | Valentino" , but Extradose is actually very good. That stuff radiates off the skin!

Most Underrated Scents?

I feel the Spicebomb "Spicebomb Night Vision (Eau de Toilette) | Viktor & Rolf" and "Spicebomb Night Vision (Eau de Parfum) | Viktor & Rolf" get a lot of flak, mostly due to their departure from their namesake. They are far from spicy and don't really fit into the whole spicebomb line as a whole, with a different name they may have been better accepted by the fragrance community. They hinge more on the aromatic side and rely more on resins and nuts. I like them a lot, especially the EDP, but they should have branched them out with a different name.

... I settled for the budget friendly version of Louis Vuitton's Ombre Nomade for the evening: "Royal Night | The Woods Collection" I like it for myself, my girlfriend hates it. Since she is away for a few days on a business event I can wear it. I'll probably have to dispose of the bottle some day as she's more dear to me than a perfume and having it catch dust in the cabinet is ridiculous. I'd rather pass Royal Night on to someone else.

Thanks for the names of Ammar Atmeh and Pierre Louis Repellin, it did make me somewhat wiser on how Montale operates with names to search on for the whole backstory, without an actual article or source for reference. (Not going to lie, I made a lot of use of Copilot AI to look it up). The google answers just didn't cut it. Sorry.

I usually give them away, they were poor blindbuys most of the time: "Nisean | Parfums de Marly" absolutely f'ing hated it, I had high hopes for another Parfums de Marley but this was too mature, resineous and dry to me. My dad liked it though, I gave it away in a heartbeat. "Instant Crush | Mancera" and "Soleil Blanc (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford" were way to feminine to me. Also Instant Crush was an assault to the nostrils, that stuff should come with a hazard warning. I passed that DEFCON 1 on to my mother. Smells good on her though. "First Instinct Man (Eau de Toilette) | Abercrombie & Fitch" too juvenile to me. It suited my nephew better. The only one I've ever thrown away was "A*Men Pure Malt | Mugler" , I couldn't make anyone happy with and I find it the worst perfume I've ever put my nose on.

... Got a sample of "Sécrétions Magnifiques | Etat Libre d'Orange" to test. In all honesty I don't find this as repulsive as it is being made out to be. I get the human fluid smell though, also smells a bit metallic. Lactonic and nutty. My girlfriend doesn't like it. Smells like someone spit on a robot and shot some humanly fluid on it. I'll paint the picture in your head what fluid that was. It relates to nutty. Also, this was a mistake.

... Probably from one of the first movies I've ever watched: Starship Troopers. I think I was 10 at the time I watched it for the first time, I crushed hard on Denise Richards as a kid, absolutely gorgeous at the time. Second one would be Jessica Alba, the movie Into the Blue wasn't that good but hey, as a teen I did not watch it for the plot. Never had a guy crush.

... Sampled "L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) | Issey Miyake" a lifetime ago and remember not being too fond of it. Blindbought "L'Eau Bleue d'Issey pour Homme | Issey Miyake" for a bargain and still felt ripped off. I found it utterly disgusting, calling it mature could sound like something complimentary. It is not in this case, way too old man-ish. It is not fair to judge a whole house based on two instances I did not like a fragrance, but I'm not eager to buy let alone sample from Issey Miyake.
