... Smirky AJRA43 Smirky @AJRA43 what @Lempi said. I usually get closer to 6 hours in winter and closer to 8 in warmer weather. I don't know what you guys can get in the UK, but I use the following. Works very well. Those timescales would be ideal! What are your temperatures like in winter? I'm in Scotland so temperatures have been down to low single digits/minus in Celsius. Got me thinking that it maybe doesn't work well in colder temperatures but the moisturiser seems to be a good shout! In late December through mid February, it can easily be -20C for stretches and dip down to -26C for a few days. Indoor humidity can go below 15%. When I said I got 6 hours in winter, that also means that at the tail end of it, Bleu is down to a skin scent. It also doesn't have monster projection, regardless. Also, I see you have "Sauvage (Eau de Parfum) | Dior". Bleu is definitely not as strong as Sauvage, in case you were comparing performance between the two. Ahh no problem, so temperatures I am experiencing in Scotland are nothing compared to you so temp shouldn't be the main issue here. I'm not too bothered about the projection, probably more bothered by the lack of longevity I seem to be experiencing. I possibly have been comparing to the likes of that, or similar, in that regard. I am very new to the scene so still lots to learn!

... Lempi @AJRA43 So glad to hear that this helped! ☺️🙏 And awesome to find a fellow Scottish fraghead here in Parfumo btw! 🥳🏴 My husband @Mitchcraft is from Scotland, I'm Finnish with Aberdeenshire roots and we currently live partially in Finland and partially in Scotland. 😁 I am very new to the scene having only really taken a bit more of an interest since December last year, so still lots to learn! Nice to know that you are both from Scotland 😀

... LouBe Enthusiastic oversprayer here 🤝. I agree with @Lempi and @Smirky . Ask someone else if they smell something! You can also reapply may be? Moisturizer: here in Belgium I bought "Sanex" scent-free and inexpensive. I use it from times to times. Thank you, will try asking someone else if they can still smell it when I can't. Might also be a case that after 3-4 hours I need to reapply a bit!

... Lempi Oh yeah, the moisturizer recommendations. I don't know which part of UK you're from but I believe the biggest Tesco's and Sainsbury's selections are quite same everywhere..? At least in Scotland you can get a few great fragrance free lotions for quite a cheap price from those grocery stores, for example Simple Moisturizer and Aveeno Body Lotion. Also CeraVe fragrance free creams seem to be available in Boots, Superdrug and Sainsbury's. Great value for the price and also won't clash with your fragrance as they don't really smell like anything. Perfect, thanks very much. I am in Scotland and I have large Tesco, Asda, Morrisons etc near me! Will have a look out for those, thank you.

... Lempi I agree with @Smirky, usually this phenomenon called perfume eating skin happens when the skin is extremely dry or dehydrated. Also, have you asked somebody else if they can smell your fragrance when you can't? If you tend to overspray, it might also be that you're simply nose blind to your own fragrance. Then the solution is to spray less and/or to spray somewhere further away from your nose (for example wrists, belly button or ankles). My husband has "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" in his collection and on him I can smell it about 6 - 8 hours. Thanks for that Lempi, not sure if it would be nose blind, but not ruling it out, other fragrances that I wear, like "Le Mâle Le Parfum | Jean Paul Gaultier", I can still smell after 6-8 hours. It just seems to be "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" that doesn't last longer than 3/4 hours on me. Moisturiser seems to be a good idea for me to try!

... Smirky If it's cold, indoors can be dry because of heating and that dries out the skin. You may want to try an unscented moisturizer - one that quickly absorbs into the skin. After it has done so, apply the scent. You may find that performance is better in summer. Be aware, though, Bleu is not a beast mode scent. I don't know what you consider "moderately" but I'd spray something like 10 to 15 times (neck and chest) with Bleu, although I'm a chronic oversprayer. The EdP is a favorite of mine. Ahh okay, that is a good tip about an unscented moisturiser! Will try that, thank you. I'm planning on leaving it until warmer weather appears and re-assess then! Have just bought "Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes (Eau de Parfum) | Zara" and so far much happier with the longevity of that but the smell is different to "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" Yeah, 10 to 15 times is what I was finding I was doing and it still wasn't really lasting more than 3/4 hours. Not necessarily after something that lasts 10+ hours but definitely wanting something that lasts longer than 3/4 hours even on a close smell of my wrist. As I say, I will maybe need to wait until warmer weather and hope it lasts longer as the smell is incredible...when it's there!

... I have just done a blind buy on "Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes (Eau de Parfum) | Zara". Was £25 so not a massive risk financially. Worn it a couple of times and please with the outcome so far. Had done a bit of reading up on it before buying and it seems fairly popular on here so thought for that price it was a safe enough gamble.

... Hi, I got "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" sprayed on me in a shop and liked the smell of it and at the time thought the longevity was quite good. Had some vouchers so went ahead and bought it. Fast forward a few months and I am now of the opinion that the longevity of this on me is rubbish. I can spray quite moderately (possibly "too much") and within hours I can't even smell it on myself. Has anyone else found this with this scent? I am also wondering if it has been too cold when I've been using it and this has reduced the longevity.

... DrDre10 I HIGHLY recommend "Aventus Cologne | Creed" and "Imagination | Louis Vuitton". "Hacivat | Nishane" will forever be a banger for me. "Herod | Parfums de Marly" Thanks so much for that. Will have a look at those and see if I can get some samples!

... Ceesie Hey there! @Smirky already mentioned some great fragrances! If you’re in the shops then be sure to try any of the Dior Homme line. I especially like "Dior Homme Intense (2011) | Dior" and "Dior Homme Original (2011) (Eau de Toilette) | Dior" . Hi, thanks for that. I actually tried the "Dior Homme Intense (2011) | Dior" and found it to be a bit chemically almost? Not sure if that’s the right term at all for it. I do see it rated quite highly and people do speak positively about it so I’ll maybe try it again at some stage but it’s maybe one that’s not for me. Thank you though

... Smirky You are welcome. Glad to help. No, I'm in the US. I could recommend some US based decanters that ship internationally, but the shipping tends to be expensive, even more so if the UK has custom duties. There are other guys here who are in the UK. I'd suggest starting another topic and asking for decanter/sample webshops based in the UK. Perfect, thanks so much. Will start another topic for that! Much appreciated!

... Smirky Two more and I'll stop. These are a bit different. "No Limit$ | Philipp Plein" is a leather with a touch of chocolate that is quite good. "Fahrenheit (Eau de Toilette) | Dior" is interesting because it has a subtle note of gasoline. For something a bit more refined and modern, there's also "Fahrenheit Parfum | Dior" . As always, sample - do not blind buy bottles. I see you are in the UK. You shouldn't have any trouble buying samples. If you go into a store, don't base purchase exclusively on sniffing perfume sprayed on blotter strips - spray on yourself and live with it for a day at least. That's what's nice about samples, you can get at least 2 to 3 days out of 2ml. This has all been brilliant, thank you so much for taking the time to provide so much info. There’s a lot out there that someone new like me doesn’t even understand or know where to start looking! I like the idea of "Fahrenheit (Eau de Toilette) | Dior" having a hint of gasoline! I do like the smell of petrol! Yeah I got the "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel" and "Le Mâle Le Parfum | Jean Paul Gaultier" sprayed on me before I then went back and bought them. Ideally I would purchase samples online and try them out like that. Thanks so much for all your time and info!

... Smirky If you've never tried it, the Sauvage line is nice. A lot of reviews say it's overplayed, everyone's wearing it, etc. I still think it's an awesome scent. There are three of them: "Sauvage (Eau de Toilette) | Dior" , "Sauvage (Eau de Parfum) | Dior" and "Sauvage Parfum | Dior" . Sample all three to find the one you like the best. My preference is for the EdP but each has its proponents. The elixir "Sauvage Elixir | Dior" is somewhat related (more of a cousin instead of a brother) but a powerhouse fragrance. A few sprays and you are good for the day and night. I’ve had "Sauvage (Eau de Parfum) | Dior" before and liked it well enough but already after a handful of wears I would say I prefer "Bleu de Chanel (Eau de Parfum) | Chanel". I think if I was to try sauvage again I would go for the elixir "Sauvage Elixir | Dior". Purely based on it being related but different from the rest! Keen to try others that are out there first though

... Smirky Also suggest you get your nose to a fougere and a chypre, just to get the scent in your head. For a fougere, there are plenty of classics that aren't very expensive. Three of my favorite fougeres are "Paco Rabanne pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) | Rabanne" , "Azzaro pour Homme (Eau de Toilette) | Azzaro" and "Bogart (Eau de Toilette) | Jacques Bogart" Note that these are not sweet and have the typical barbershop scent. For a masculine chypre, can't beat "Polo (Eau de Toilette) | Ralph Lauren" or "Antaeus (Eau de Toilette) | Chanel" , both classics. Again, these are not sweet. You may find you don't like any of these because they are not sweet. Most of the newer fragrances that designers come out with and are targeted towards young men are sweet (some very sweet). I personally don't follow age guide lines but then I don't like , most sweet fragrances. You might be different. The above are good for all year, hot or cold. Had to google what a fougere and chypre were! As I say, very late to the party! Lots of info there! I like the ideal of the typical barbershop scent so will look out for those. I don’t think I will be particularly restricted to sweeter scents but I won’t know until I try I suppose! Previously I’ve just pretty much bought whatever or been gifted whatever and just chucked it on whenever!

... Smirky AJRA43 Thank you for that one. Not heard of that but have read a lot of good things about "Terre d'Hermès (Eau de Toilette) | Hermès". Do you have any thoughts on this? Definitely will always be sampling first! "Terre d'Hermès (Eau de Toilette) | Hermès" is awesome. I'd suggest getting samples of both - the EdT and "Terre d'Hermès (Parfum) | Hermès" . They are close but not identical. I prefer the EdT but some like the Parfum better. Just be aware that TdH is not sweet like Le Male or Bleu. It's got a beautiful opening citrus and a dry down to a biting vetiver, which is not sweet at all but quite masculine. Also, if you like either of those, I'd then suggest sampling "Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée | Hermès" which is the same DNA but has a stronger citrusy opening and is quite fresh - good for warmer weather. The EdT and Parfum are good all year round. Yeah from what I have read the edt is generally the preferred, but also everyone is different! Are you UK based? If so, do you get samples sent from online or just go round shops getting sprays on the bits of paper? I am keen on sampling and possibly getting citrusy scents as well so will definitely be looking at trying these out! Thanks again for all of this!

... Raluko111 I just bought "Halfeti | Penhaligon's" for my partner. It's a nice oud fragrance that is not overly macho and has a sensitive side. At least, that's how I perceive it. 🙂 Thanks for that. Not heard of that one before! Looks slightly outwith my price range just now but will keep it in mind. Thanks
